No

Why the Hell do you think Burzum, Bathory, Carcass, Autopsy OR Bathory will even be CONSIDERED an induction?

Those bands are highly influential and known by most metalheads, sure, but rarely are they known by anybody who's not affiliated with metal. The only bands that would receive an induction are most likely Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and probably Motorhead; and that's damn well the way it should be. Those are the gateway bands everyone should listen to when they're getting in to metal- and having their induction in the Hall of Fame wouldn't possibly be doing them any Harm, might rope a few more curious naive kids into listening to them and spawning a few more Warriors of metal.

It is in no way a bad thing. I'm confused why so many people are voting no.

Those bands will never be induced - never said they will. The pop artists benefit from the rock artists image, not the metal ones.

Only those bands that even people that don't know metal are inducted, like Metallica, Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper. Maybe Iron Maiden has the chance, since there are people who think it's a line of clothing...

I frankly don't think this hall of fame works for the better of the bands, I see it spewing brainwashed pop culture followers, since it was built for this purpose, not metal Warriors, but, hey, I might be uncharacteristically pessimistic on this subject.

I merely answered 'does metal belong?', not 'do metal bands have something to gain from joining rnr?'.

I was addressing IZero with my post more than I was you.

And hey; we were all Brainless pop culture followers at one point, and in some facets of art probably still are. The HoF just gives us one more chance to save a few lucky souls from metal deprivation. It's a major genre of music that has had a huge impact, even in socio-political contexts (think the Norwegian Black Metal movement). So I think at the very least, a few more of the front-running bands of the genre that everybody knows anyway (Maiden, Priest, Motorhead) should get inducted.

There's no real "correct" way to market metal; and when you get right Down to it metal fans are just as dumb as everybody else, anybody who says otherwise isn't looking hard enough at the fanbase.

absolutely agree... the main question really is: do u think ppl that william wallace or other epic heroes are in need of MTV highlights?   of course fucking not! if it was a indie movie and mel gibson was some starter actor,my respect to this movie would be the same... i don't want a culture that i like and follow to be popularized... just imagine,if Mayhem will get 1000 pop-fanboys from being higlighted,10 from them would Bitch about it,10 from them will create some ripoff retarded copyband,10 from them would sue them for being brutalistic, and MAYBE only 10 from 1000 would love it... if you think that it makes more bands play good music, you getting wrong... gr8 musicians can't be created from massmedy, they are borning that way... well, look at their live's,aren't they destined to be the chosen?! of course they are...

What's wrong with that? Metal's a pretty mainstream genre already, anyways.
