Does Metal Belong In The Hall Of Fame?
Yes
No

So here we are in the 21st century and rock music has evolved and mutated into too many branches to list.
With another year comes more Hypocrisy from a private organization that professes to speak on behalf of a genre of music that from the beginning has been Outcast in the music world.
So I've been looking into the so called Hall of Fame and I have come to the conclusion that it is a fallacy and is nothing to be proud of.
Now with that obvious conclusion I have to ask why is it that any band that plays heavy music or any fan of heavy music cares about one of our bands being inducted?

I don't think any band of any genre should want to be inducted into this "thing" that alters the votes and is clearly a popularity contest instead of being about a pioneer(s) in a form of music that is often not given the credit it deserves.

 Anyone else have an opinion?

Good bands dont need a shitty "hall of fame" to be appreciated or recognized.

I voted no.Metal music has  many kinds and it is up to the person which to chose. He really doesnt need to hear the bands that are recognized as the best if they are not his kind.Even if they are in his kind he shouldnt be blindly attached to them.
On the other hand this hall of fame could be a way for the new metal lovers to get deeper into our music.I mean which one of us didnt hear Iron Maiden or Metallica when he started?( i still love them).

Hall of Fames are the gay.

Besides R&R HoF is so corrupt now, they think rap musicians who cover rock songs just to make money is consdiered to be in the R&R HoF. So... Fuck the R&R Hall of Fame.

What's the point of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame anyway?  Metal has never got anything like the respect it deserves, as some people can't listen with open minds.  I've heard it said that, of all forms of popular music, metal is the closest to classical, due to the amount of practise, commitment and dedication necessary to simply achieve the bare minimum acceptable standard on your instrument and also due to the high quality of musicianship evident throughout the metal sphere.

Despite the pounding it's received, metal has stayed strong consistently - it doesn't need the affirmation of the "cool people" to be valid.  Also, I can't help feeling that the people behind the Hall of Fame are the kind of people who voted Karen Carpenter "Best Drummer" in 1975 - they thought she was a better drummer than John Bonham (R.I.P.), Ian Paice or Bill Ward.....

From the point of view of quality and artistic Integrity, metal would seem to belong in the Hall of Fame, but, when you see what the Hall of Fame stands for (basically a forum for critics to show how "cool" they are), I would have to say a definite no.

thunderandlightning, well put!

It certainly is very close to classical, many instrumental techniques are also shared between the two. Mozart was the hellraiser of his day as well!

Metal represents a freedom that doesn't need a "hall of fame" to be appreciated. As long as we Live on the left, we're respecting metal as it was meant to be. Mass recognition has never been synonymous with this genre, perhaps because not all understand it. On which subject, it's scientifically proven that people who listen to metal and classical have both the highest IQs and artistic ability. Random sidenote? Certainly not. It's relevant in the sense that only a relatively small number of people listen to this genre fully. That may be why it has no "hall of fame". In my honest opinion, it doesn't need it.
