I see.
But emusic is nowhere near as expensive as iTunes, Virgin, MSN,...

Now, according to the rules:

Emusic will always charge you automatically month to month or year to year (depends on the Subscription Plan you have) unless you choose to cancel your account. Also, if you don't cancel your trial version within fourteen days or before you exceed the free download limit (40 downloads) you'll be automatically subscribed and they will charge you. All fees and charges are nonrefundable.

Annual or two-year subscriptions cannot be canceled.

If you don't have the money in time, a late payment charge of one and one-half percent (1.5%) per month may be added to your bill and immediately become due and payable.

If you find any discrepances on your account statement (for example, if you notice that Emusic is taking more money than they should) you'll have to notify them within 60 days. If you don't, it Means all discrepances had been accepted by you.

You are solely responsible for paying any taxes, duties, government levies or other charges imposed by a taxing or other regulatory authority relating to your use of the service.

Emusic has the right, at any time, to change the fees and billing methods, effective 30 days after an online posting at the site. If you don't agree with the changes, cancel your account before these thirty days.

You can also upgrade or downgrade your current Subscription Plan. Downgrade is only effective at The End of your current plan, but you can upgrade at anytime (all you have to do is to pay the difference).

You choose the contract before the free trial.

There's a standard business model used for many years before the internet that involves enticing people to sign up for a free trial and then automatically charging or sending goods unless the customer cancels. It may be not very ethic, but's it's not illegal.

I think Skinless is right. What is the proportion of genuine problems as a percentage of thousands of eMusic users? The rules are all written, probably some people are complaining because they were too Lazy to read them and got a few surprises. And some complains I've read were just ridiculous, like: "They give you a 14-day free trial but you can't download anything, they will charge you for a single Mp3 you get", and eMusic says you can download until 40 Mp3 in the free trial.

And some people probably didn't read about the 40 Mp3 also, so they started to download like maniacs and got charged at the first day.

I've already read the terms of use.
I don't understand the whole thing, I admit.

And yet nothing illegal in my opinion. Seems like some people didn't read the small print carefully before registration. Who's to blame ?

I'm thinking of trying emusic.

Thanks for all.
