Just got my ass kicked by this album.

Final Holocaust - Massacra

A Endless barrage of riffs ready to melt your face. Feels kind of disjointed at times, but that doesn't change that this album is a fucking monster.

Yeah, that's a good one. I prefer Enjoy The Violence over it, personally but it's pretty good. I've always loved that album cover.

Supuration is killer. The Cube is definitely one of the most unique Death Metal records of the early 90's, some incredibly interesting stuff going with dissonance in that album. It has a really Cold, spacey aura that I wished more Death Metal bands explored a bit.

Anyway...

Just listened to this album not much longer than an hour and a half ago. One of the better bands from the NYDM scene in my opinion, Morpheus Descends had some sharp, tightly coiled tremolo riffing, punchy percussion and some pretty deep vocals to drive these songs along. The riffs are really well done, and the songs are structured very well throughout the album, each transition into another section never feels particularly forced. It's a really well done album overall, definitely worth getting if you're one for the NYDM scene.

I've been meaning to check out Morpheus Descends.

I just found this album. Where has this been my whole life?

Brutality - Screams of Anguish

Riffs everywhere. Along with Disincarnate, Two of the most underrated Florida Death Metal bands. Perfect production, demonic vocals. The band sure lives up to their name.

Incantation - Onward to Golgotha

I guess it doesn't require presentations. Blasted Death Metal with archheavy parts. Most "revivalists" try to copy them but there can only be one Incantation.

More proof that Death Metal with melody is Far Superior to melodic death metal.

Splenium For Nyktophobia - Uncanny

There are so many melodic riffs in this monster. This album reminds me of Unleashed, but Far more melodic. These guys are modern melodic Death Metal done well: they have keyboards, but are used sparsely to enhance the atmosphere, the riffs are melodic but are as crushing as regular OSDM. The production is fantastic. It's Sad that this wasn't noticed and people focused on Slaughter of the Soul for melodic Death Metal the next year. I could only imagine if melodic Death Metal followed these guys.

I'm gonna have to relisten to Uncanny, because I remember the album really didn't grab me very much. Interestingly enough, Fred Norrman, who'd make a bigger name for himself with Katatonia and October Tide was a part of that band. (i'm a big fan of both bands) I've always liked Brutality's first Two records though, some of the better releases from the Floridian scene... Hell i've always prefered them to Malevolent Creation and Monstrosity.

Gandhi, Incantation is amazing. Onward to Golgotha is one of my favourite Death Metal albums of all time... some of the most absurdly Twisted songs ever written on a Death Metal record. The riffs are fantastic, one of the few records where lots of pinch harmonics really work for them*. And Craig Pillard's vocals are some of the Absolute best in all of Extreme metal, very nearly one of my favourite DM vocal performances ever.

*Immolation is another that uses them really well, of course.

Holy shit.

I don't know what to say. These vocals are actually as Intense as Craig Pillard's. And the singer is the guitarist of Borknagar (too bad he doesn't sing for them )! I can't explain this, just listen.

Fuck that was intense. I really liked it. Need to check where to buy it now! Thanks for the discovery.

Now listening to:

Catacomb - The Years Of Morbidology

The whole band's discography re-released by Armee de la Mort records on Two cds.

French legends. Check them out. Something between Dutch and US Death Metal with some very nice leads and an asphyxiating singer.

That Molested was reissued as a double album from Ars Magna (I think?) in 2009, with a remaster, the original mix and Master, and the rest of the band's recorded output. The remaster sounds terrible though, so it's cool of them to include the original Master as well.

I like Blod-draum a lot for what it's worth though. One of the more unique Death Metal albums, i'd say.

Necrophobic's debut has been one of my favourite Death Metal albums for years. While a Swedeath album, Necrophobic also brought in significant amounts of influence from the contemporary Black Metal style and incorporated that seamlessly into their Death Metal here. Amazing riffs, excellent lead guitar work, throat-shredding vocals, and some of the best songs in all of Swedish death are all present on this record.

Devouring Deception - Blasphemer

It's like Ultra Brutal slam death done right. the gutturals are some of the sickest ever recorded. Sounds Inhuman
