Actually, most of their instrumental and ambiental songs are pretty interesting - they are not just fillers and intros.

Other bands...Pink Floyd's older stuff have a very interesting sound: songs like 'Nightmare', 'Sleep' or 'Careful with that Axe, Eugene'.
Maybe old Sabbath songs [with Ozzy on vocals] like 'Megalomania', Ozzy's 'Mr. Crowley', some King Crimson stuff, pre 80's Alice Cooper.

Maybe some stuff by King Diamond or Mercyful Fate, if you find his timbre weird/scary [the songs are usually too cool to get a strange vibe]

Some other songs... 'Puritania" from Dimmu Borgir, 'Crushed dreams' - Tristania, 'Perverse...Almost religious' - Moonspell.
