so what names have you been called and why do ya think they do it?

Ooooh, chavs. Welcome to the enchanted world of the Animal Kingdom Those strange lads dressed in a intimidating sportwear line who want the call the attention by using so many gold ornaments than can make you Blind just by looking at them. That, or you are regarded with a "wadda fucks ur problem?! Wanna make sommin of it?"

Oh well.

Here in Portugal we call them "mitras". We also have the "basofes", who are guys that dress like mitras but they are often innofensive but annoying as well. Then we have the "gunas", who are the most dangerous, often involved in armed robberies and such (oh no, bad memories).

Now, back to the topic. I think you already know my answer... I'm a girl, what do you think they call me? I developed a distaste for chavs or mitras for about three years ago, since I started working in optical stores. I have to deal with them everyday (After All, sunglasses like those hip hop idols wear is the dream of every chav ) and, since I have to close the store at midnight, I also have to deal with them on my way back home. Insults like "bitch", "whore", "slut" keep ringing on my ears. The reason? I'm a girl and, if we base ourselves on rap songs, girls are bitches right? (After All, chavs are natural breeders, at eighteen years Old they have children all over the place).

Now the Million dollar question: What do I do?
I merely shrug. They can call me that anytime, I don't care. In my case and, like we say in Portugal, the hat just doesn't fit me.

We have them in Greece too, but not in a big scale.My city (Patra) is like a castle for them.They gather in big companies to boast and cause fuss, but generally they are not dangerous.Most of them are kids that wanted to follow the style or want to look dangerous and badasses....Most of them are cowards, that can provoke a Fight with their insults but dont know what to do in the violent part of it    .And you feel sorry for them....They gather up in some places where people dont usually go...And cause i walk around the night and pass from those locations they always look at me like i am interupting some kind of ceremony   , but never dared to throw an insult to me..Here they have some kind of silent respect or fear for obvious metalheads....
 
The rediculous thing is the young "chavs"........Oh man, those kids dont even know what they are doing..
I remember one day in Thessaloniki , i went to an "alternative" shop to buy some  clothes (Underground in Navarinou , Xentrix86 , pws xalase etsi afto to magazi?).
Inside the shop, there was a bunch of young "chavs" trying to pick some new clothes.I just Forgot the clothes and started a nervous laughing until the seller came and told me : "Come on dude, we both know that they are a bunch of idiots and if i could i would Kick them Out, but show some understanding, we are selling clothes here"....He was right of course , so i left laughing   .
 
 
To the question : They have never said anything to me, nor to those i accompany so i had nothing to respond too..I guess they know that in Greek cities at night you must be very careful at who you are laughing.Thats a rule.

Wooow Europe sounds oo much cooler then England
in liverpool we call them Scallys they wear black tracksuits and black shoes with silly black hats (and call us goths for wearing black)

It's a regular thing for them to Shout stuff or even try to jump anyone who inst "one of them" but one of the worst experiances I've had with them was last year me and two of my friends wear walking through a park and we a saw a group of about twenty of them I'd say the youngest was about 18 -19
and for no reason atall they Shout "why are yous in our fuckin' park?"
so we thought heeere we go then one of them  picked up a metal pole and started to chase after us purly because we have long hair

I'm nost scared of them just when the odds are 20 to 3 and there practuically adults and one has a metal pole commen snense comes into play

so we ran Out of the park but to this day I still don't know why they bothered

Surly they have somthign better to do with there lives?

They dress in black there? Here they use different combinations of white, blue and Silver sportswear (mostly), shoes that are usually white, a cap and a hood on it. The pants are usually tucked in white socks. They usually wear sunglasses on the back of their Head (wtf?) and the largest ammount of jewelry they can wear without falling from the weight.




Indeed. Alone they're sissies, but they become all badasses when forming groups of twenty and thirty.

I'm now remembering something that happened three years ago, when I lived in the other side of The River (a more rural place - or so it seems). I had a friend there, and one day he discovered that a group of chavs were threathening his younger brother to do some stuff for them, so he warned the police.
I used to spend my early evenings in a park, not too far away from my Old house. That day my friend was sitting at a Stone bench with three more friends. When the night fell and I started to go home, I saw a crowd of guys walking at distance, and as they came closer I realized that they were holding police sticks (don't ask me where they got 'em). I didn't count them, but I think they were more that thirty, white guys and black guys. I called for my friend and his group and they started to run away. I had to watch my friend and another dude being caught and beaten forcefully, and the other two who managed to Escape grabbed my arms and took me with them. We ran to the police station. When we arrived at the park with Six cars full of cops, the chavs were already gone... my friend had some ribs broken and the front teeth were missing, but thankfully I realized he was going to be okay. His friend was much worse... he was losing a great amount of Blood and aparently, they had tried to Smash his Cranium for he had two serious traumatisms. The doctors don't even know how he managed to survive. However, he never recovered completely from it, and he needs special care for now he has a deficiency... it was truly horrible.

I'm from Limerick in Ireland. Anyone who knows about Limerick knows it's nickname is "Stab City". It's not all bad though, and at least I don't Live in the city! :D

We have them because you touch yourself at night.... Some of them can be really cool people. i was riding round with a few in a car not to long ago, listening to shit like oasis and other bollocks ¬¬... but hey atleast it wasnt happy hardcore.... its the ones that Kick off you i Hate, the ones that i tend to just mouth off back and hope to GOD hey pick a fight.
