Children Of Bodom, the band i love to hate. Have recently released a new album, blooddrunk or someshit. I used to like bodom back in the day, 13 years Old and you get told about this heavy finnish band. Over the years Bodom have turned into a load of shit, the first actual album "Something Wild" was probaly the best album they have done despite some decent songs on later albums.

Seems like the more famous they have gotten the worse the style of music, they have tried to be melodic death but failed so now there churning up any Old crap to see if little 14 year Old fans like there stuff. most of them do, because they haven't been told about better heavier brutal bands. Yeah this pisses me off.

So Does C.O.F, Cradle of fucking flith... Claim to be Black Metal, yeah maybe the earlier material had slight signs of being black metal. now days cradle sounds like a pop record beeing Twisted up in a grinder. The vocals suck, GOD help all the cover versions they have done. Being honest i don't think i have ever liked C.O.F, not even when i was 13 or whatever, when your so bloody easily lead into this soon to be shit crazes.

They have had so many fucking genres aswell. they change there genre more than the lead singer changes his fucking kecks.

"Their format differs from most Black Metal, and they have thus, at one time or another, been labeled symphonic Black Metal, Extreme Gothic Metal, melodic Black Metal, satanic, vampyric metal, Speed Metal,Death Metal, melodic Death Metal horror metal, and Dark Metal, some of which are regarded by critics and fans alike as entirely Apocryphal catagories."  from wikipedia

surley half are these are made up, and C.o.F's material doesnt fit into any of this....

i give up on this rant, discuss about them, you ever love them or Hate them, or like both, or Hate both, or like one and Hate the other one.

is can also be a topic where you can rant about any bands, how crap they are or how brutal or how crap there new album is or whatever.

I dunno... I actually like Children Of Bodom quite a bit. The only downside to me is that most of their music sounds very much alike. I do Hate it if anyone calls them heavy or shit like that, because Children Of Bodom is mostly something I listen to when I want to relax.

Now Cradle of Filth. I don't like them a single bit, they are just stupid, and I think a demo from a starting Black Metal band would sound better than a whole release of them (and I don't even like black metal!). I've listened to 3 of their albums, and I dislike all of them.

I dont like both bands.. but that shouldnt mean that they dont make good music in general. i dont like the style in general... they might be good musician... i would never say they arent. but i dont like this kind of music.

The people who write this stuff of wikipedia generally have no idea about the whole metal scene, and what constitutes fitting into a gnre, and are usually fanboys of the band.

That said:

Children of Bodom...they're tolerable. I only really like a couple of songs (Lake Bodom & We're Not Gunna Fall), but I'll listen to an entire album on Random occassions. Overall, they are pretty mediocre, and often tend to try and cram too much into a song. Meloidc-Thrash-Death-Metal w/black fusion.

Or something. It's just rediculous.

CoF. What is there to say? Again, I do enjoy a song of theirs (Nymphetamine), but the whole "we dress in black and wear make up, thus are black metalers" is an Old concept. Dani Filth should wake up and realise that they've never been any good, and disband the group.

i can actually see where youre coming from! they are still making some very good music! but i reckon they should of stuck more to there older darker stuff like in somthing wild! in the shadows was a song i enjoyed alot. but i wouldnt say they are shit! they are fucking talented! and they can play exellent live!

C.O.F on the other hand was a band i never took notice of! Dani's vocals! man do i have to comment.... i just dont like them, their guitars sound out of tune and they just dont do it for me!

Well i like COB a lot, I just like the combination of alexi's Voice with the nice melodies.

COF, not a fan, i like on song "Temptation" but that's it. Everything else sounds the same for me

COB are a  quality band and alexi is one fo the best guitarists around

as for COF their Old stuff is pretty similar sounding but i think midian and nymphetmaine are some of the best blackmetal  albums around. also the thornography and extension is great as well.

I can see where your comming from about cob, they have changed quite a bit.

honestly, i have all the album hatecrew deathroll on my mp3 player, the newer stuff isnt as good but i still like it.

Cradle of filth is really hard to put a style on, some of thier music is just too much for me, i like a few of thier songs, and go and see them when they come becausei  just love going to metal shows.

C.O.B are a good "thrash" band.  But that is it.  I don't consider them Death Metal at all.  They are far too technical with their guitar lines.  Alexi Liaho is an amazing guitar player, and an alright lyricist, but almost every song is the same.  A few of their songs are catchy and make you wanna move around, but thats about as far as I go with them

Cradle Of Filth, on the other hand.  I LOVE those guys.  Dani Filth definitely has a nitch for writing lyrics, and really iterating on themes throughout his lyrics.  Bitter Suites to Succubi is by far one of the best albums I've ever heard.  Midian is also a prime sample.  With songs like "Mannequin, Scorched Earth Erotica, Born in a Burial Gown, Her Ghost in the Fog", you can't go wrong.  Their latest two albums "Nymphetamine" and "Thornography" are their worst works yet, but I attribute that to the fact that they've never had a steady line-up.  Their musicians change with every album, which Means their musical range also changes, which makes every album questionable at first.

I like alot the first 3 albums from COB, the combination of neoclassical influences with various genres of metal was awesome.
Later, with Hate Crew Death Roll, they change a bit to something more modern, I like the albums from there to Blooddrunk, but it's not the same.

COF, I like the Old stuff of them, but never liked the attitude of the band (Dani),Damnation and a Day & Thornography don't like me at all.

In Flames is another band that changed alot!
From gothemburg to Metalcore, i like the later releases, but...
