it's rather easy: if the drummer is skilled enough, his blastbeats would always be good

I like blast beats when they're used most sparingly, either as for chaotic bursts within the music or to accentuate the phrases in the riffing. Blast-beats can be great, but they can also be some of the most annoying fucking shit in metal, especially if you leave it in the hands of bands like Hate Eternal* and pretty much anything Marduk did post Those of the Unlight.

Basically i'm a huge fan of drummers that know when to do them that serves the songs most, like Pete Sandoval or Aad Klausterwaard.

*I'm going off of I, Monarch here. The percussion was literally a fucking blast the whole time without any real variety.

Don't worry, you could say the same thing about any other Hate Eternal album and nobody would call you out on it, that band is a mindless wall of noise, and not in a good way.

So i've heard. I've actually sort of wanted to hear the new one since apparently it's not totally shitty, but i've got waay too many other things to look into.

I thought of an exception to what I prefer with blasts: Repulsion. That band could pull it off staggeringly well.
