Early Behemoth is about as Raw as Black Metal can get. Personally, i liked their old Black Metal style alot more (Demigod was great, the Apostasy was decent, but Evangelion was kinda on the slow side for me... didn't like it at all). Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic) and The Forests dream Eternally are badass

Dislike Evangelion all you want, but calling it slow it just dead fucking wrong. Yeah, there's a couple of slow builders and more drawn out tracks, but at the Core we've got the hyperblasting modern Behemoth we all know and love, in fact, songs like "Defining Morality Ov Black God" and "Shemhamforash" are some of the most Extreme things post- Zos Kia Cultus Behemoth has written.

You've put it perfectly, earlier material such as Transilvanian Forest, Wolves Guard My Coffin the their cover of Aggressor are about as BM as you get now. However, as good as Evangelion is (and believe me, I really do love the album) It isn't actually Black Metal in all technicality.

Agreed. I like Behemoth's older stuff more than their newer stuff. I heard Demigod wasn't as good. In fact, hardly anyone liked it.

You shittin' me? Later Behemoth may have attracted a different crowd, but it certainly wasn't hated by everyone, in fact, Demigod was their "Breakthrough" album, so to say.

Oh, and later Behemoth trumps early Behemoth any day. Let's face it, their earlier material is solid-to-mediocre Black Metal at best, whereas albums like Demigod and Evangelion just FUCK YOUR FACE UNTIL IT IS A SLOBBERY PILE OF NOTHINGNESS. Sure, there's a few production issues with Demigod, but they're not that hard to get over. Behemoth has only matured as a band over the years.

Seriously. I actually liked Demigod. And I just Wish they did more of their earlier work.

musically, i liked em up until Demigod (that definantly was there breakthrough album). after that, their popularity sky rocketed, they're almost a household name now... i guess that whole transition from "trve raw black metal" to selling more shirts than Hollister kinda pisses me off, i don't see what makes em THAT special. I think people give them way more credit than they deserve sometimes... again, thats just me though

So you don't like their later albums cause they're popular? That's the vibe I'm getting at least...
I know you didn't mean it, but that post definitely reeked of stereotypical "kvlt kiddie" mentality.

I don't usually go for the super raw Black Metal stuff anymore, but i s'pose their overly hyped popularity kinda ticks me off, especially since they started off as an underground Black Metal band.

...why would the popularity of a band tick you off? You don't listen to their fans, you listen to their music.
