Celebrating a band that did absolutely nothing to change the course of
music history but did for a short time hitch a ride. The band was
formed when sometime in october 1990 Pat, Shane and Scott were eating
Renzo fries and decided to recruit Jamey into a band they felt was
destined to become Colossal Rock Gods. They got a flat tire but made it
to Jameys the next night. Jamey invited the trio in and the band was
born. The band started off very dirty. Jamming and writing songs around
Jameys guitar riffs. They went through several names including
Bellevue, The Lunatic Fringe, EZ Rider,Primal
Rage, and even considered
Green Hag for a time before finally becoming 38DD in 1992. Most songs
had a 80s LA rock sound to them such as 'You', 'Prisoner of Rock', and
'Let the Fire Grow'. After a short while trying to incorperate another
guitar player, the band changed gears, fired said guitar player, and
started to jam as much heavy music as possible. The songs started to
change shape into more angry works such as 'This is Reality',
'Suicidally Insane', and 'Holy Mother Fuckin Shit' Then in 1992 Pat
went to rehab. The band noodled with singers but nothing ever worked
the same. Eventually pat came back to
Action and the band rose from the
ashes to declare a 1st place
Victory at the Fifth annual and final JPZ
Tempest Battle of the Bands in the spring of 1993, Something they had
collectively wanted to do for years. The band competed in another
Battle that year at the UW Parkside BOTB. They didnt make the original
line up but after a band backed out of the competion last minute they
were called to compete, taking third place out of eight. Then in the
summer of 1994 they went into the studio and recorded their long
overdue album More Than A Handful'. Unfortunately the band would never
play together again after the recordings were finished. 38DD did do a
reunion show in 2001 without Scott. However it just wasnt the same
without the original line up. In
The End looking back, they achieved
few of their musical dreams, but for those who were there, it was an
incredible time......... and they were the soundtrack
