Pÿlon : A Lament
Lyrics
1. COSMIK LIZARD
Cosmik lizard, snake divine
From your chalice flows the brine
Cosmik wizard, sheik divine
In your desert grows the vine
The universal inclination, according to this constellation:
Re- & trans- & permutation, as spelt by algebraic lore
Undefined delineation, towards a tangent destination
Stirs the cosmik conflagration in the flames of evermore
Each and every speculation deemed a violent desecration
Of de- or re-tuned intonation in thales’ or in nereus’ core
Be it endo-, pan- or dehydration, whence the earth’s fructification?
Thence the ceaseless altercation in the floods of evermore
The lizard knows and shows it all,
Reveals which arcane powers enthral
The earth, the sea and the heavens withal
Upon his scales in fire’s scrawl
Read the runes of lacertilla
The seed is strewn in her scintilla
Read the runes of lacertilla
The seed is strewn in her scintilla
2. DESOLATION IS DIVINE!
Desolation is divine!
I can see the writing on the wall:
The tomb of life is open and it’s waiting for us all
I won’t resist, i just resign
I bow my head, sink to my knees and crawl
I drag myself that one step further and then i let myself fall
A revelation in my mind:
We are not made to start alone;
The beginning was prescribed but the ending is my own
I can’t exist, i’m ill-defined
Some live in a human comfort zone
Whence i would flee, not to return once sadness had reared my solitary throne
[bridge/refrain]
The presentation of the sign
(but) i will not preach as i did before
For what the use of strangling words
Whose meaning i know to be wrong to the core
I shan’t persist or toe the line
I shan’t preach peace or counsel war
I just will sleep, for the times and tides
Have washed in and out and are set to do so evermore
A derivation much maligned
My path is paved with sore and quav’ring groans
The notes that continue to pervade me are sorely out of tune
And the colours i project are entirely out of tone
I can’t subsist, i’m not aligned / i’m deaf and blind
I implored the gods to reduce me to ash and bones
Too often would i raise my voice for love and guidance
And yet i was to learn that solitary ruin is bestowed on him who would atone
And so i find:
Desolation is divine
3. THE DAY AFTER THE WAR (AN ODIOUS ODE)
Don’t send me to war, i bet you couldn’t even tell me what for
When you think it through, what is it you want me to do?
Am i to
Kill their children?
Rape their women?
Burn their earth
Further dearth?
And then return a happy man into a burnt, once happy land?
Then come to my senses the day after the war?
Then you’ve got so much to learn and to fear so much more
You called me home from war, at least the one you thought you knew before
But there’s a residue: some deeds of mine you never can undo
Will i not
Feel the urge
To burn and purge?
Go insane
And kill again?
As i return an altered man, abased, despised, with faltered plans?
Who’ll first come to his senses the day after the war?
Will he counsel progress or try to live as before?
4. PANTODYNAMOS
Original source, eternal light
Incarnation of life, the path himself
Cosmic power, ever-being
Bestower of mercy, redeemer of souls
Have mercy on me and come to me
Show your mercy, i pray
Light my way
Borne to man, in his own image
From woman born, in mere skin clad
Boundless greatness, cosmic treasure
Well of wells, unharnessed pow’r
Have mercy on me and come to me
Come to me, i pray; show your mercy
The cosmos mirrors, thy vastness
Thy trans-substance, without end
Conceived of might, inconceivable
Cosmic treasure, absolute
I have sought you, and found you, in light
Be my light, eternal light
I have sought you, and found you, in light
Release me from evil
5. LAZARUS
Luke 16, 19-31 king james
There was a certain rich man, clad in purple and gold
And he fared sumptuously, every day
And there was a certain beggar, named lazarus
Which was laid at his gate, full of sores
And desiring to be fed, with the rich man’s crumbs
Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores
And it came to pass, that the beggar died
And was carried by the angels, into abraham's bosom
The rich man also died, and was buried
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torment
And he seeth, abraham afar off
And lazarus reclining there, in his bosom
And he cried and said, father abraham
Have mercy on me, and send lazarus
That he may dip the tip, of his finger in water
And cool my tongue for i am tormented in flames.
But abraham said, son, remember
That thou in thy life didst receive good things
And lazarus but evil:
But now that beggar is comforted
And thou art tormented in flames
Between us and you hear, there’s a great gulf fixed
So that they which would pass, from here they can’t
Then he said: i pray thee, father abraham
That thou wouldst send him to my father's house
For i have five brethren; may he testify
Lest they also come, into this place of torment
Abraham saith unto him: they have moses
And the prophets all; let them all hear them
And he said: nay, father, but if one went
Unto them from the dead, they surely will repent
And he said unto him: if they hear not moses
Neither will they be swayed, though one rose from the dead
6. FAIR HAVEN OF THESTERNESS
From the darkness comes new light
From the light wake fear and fright
Thousand faces stare at me
Thousands stare, not one can see
Could they pierce my maskéd face
They would behold my last grimàce
So hére i lie and here i hide
To sáve me from my suicide
My ship has anchored
I harbour here
Spread the shroud all o’er my corpse
Place the coins upon the orbs
Tuck me in my vessel’s hull
My voyage will be long and dull
They’ve pushed me off, the shore is far
And farther yet each guiding star
They deem the ride be long for me
But i yèt belong to eternity
The sea is peaceful
And still the night
Fair haven of thesterness, my bláck embrace
Fair haven of loneliness, my ónly híding pláce
My journey ends not
Nor ever will
I know and sense nought
For all is still
In this darkness glows no gleam:
Ever-sparkless, dawnless dream
My soul a raven, haggàrd and hoar
Fit to fly/soar and seek the shore
The body travels and the raven flies
And the raven flies
And the raven flies no more
7. THE LONE RIDER
Justice he had sought, but never found peace
Death and loneliness, followed him, like the breeze
The lone rider
Condemned to flee, condemned to hide
The lone rider
Cursed to roam
Weakened by his guilt and empty inside
His chalice is filled with the vine of despite
Weak and short of breath, all empty inside
His enemies, died one by one, as did all the friends he made
The lone rider
Condemned to flee
The lone rider
Till the end of time
