Biography : Lizzy Borden

Lizzy Borden is an American heavy metal band with a "glam" image formed in 1983. Lizzy Borden is also the name of the band's lead vocalist. Borden specialized in the shock metal style originated by artists like Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister. The band is named after notorious Lizzie Borden, a woman accused (and acquitted) of murder in the late 19th century.

Though Lizzy Borden were a part of the Los Angeles "glam metal" club scene in the mid-1980's and had an image to match, the style of their music was quite different from the other bands around at the time. Lizzy Borden played what is commonly referred to as thrash-power metal, and were more musically influenced by bands such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden than glam or shock metal bands. Their lyrical themes are also more representative of this style, especially on earlier recordings.

The band was featured prominently in the rockumentary The Decline of Western Civilization II.

One time Lizzy Borden guitarist Joe Holmes also played with David Lee Roth and Ozzy Osbourne, and bass guitarist Marten Andersson has enjoyed stints with Lynch Mob and Legacy.

The band experienced considerable success throughout the 1980s in spite of several line-up changes. Several members of Lizzy Borden, including Lizzy and drummer Joey Scott, would form a new side-project, Starwood, in 2004 that represents a departure from their original metal sound.

The band recently announced that they have reformed with Guitar Player Ira Black and are in the process of recording a new Lizzy Borden CD, and a worldwide tour scheduled for 2007.
