I know the album “Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls” was released way back in 2002 and the bonus tracks version in 2003 but it’s one of my all-time favourite albums and I feel that I should review it for all you spiders out there that shock the crap out of me when I realize that you’ve been living under a fucking rock that I’ve just picked up from the ground. And for those of you who disagree with “Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls” being a good album, you can engrave your opinions on the razor-sharp blade of a sword and shove it up your arse for all I care. If you’re reading this then you’re expressing an interest in MY opinions, not yours. If you’d like to express an opinion then write your own fucking review!Anyway, The Murderdolls is fronted by Wednesday 13, former vocalist of Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 and current vocalist of the band Wednesday 13. What’s that? His current band is of the same name as his stage name? Well aren’t you a fine observer of detail :)For those of you who haven’t listened to Frankenstein Drag Queens yet, you might like to know that most of the songs on this album are just re-recordings of the best songs from that band. Either they’re the exact same lyrics and music or the same music with different lyrics for the chorus. I would usually point my “finger of cheating shame” at an idea like this, but in fairness not many people have even heard of Frankenstein Drag Queens until they stumbled upon them by accident while looking up the best pictures of Wednesday 13 on the internet to print out and masturbate over. And I’m referring to girls AND guys too… I wouldn’t put odd obsessions past anyone or any gender these days. So because not many people knew of Frankenstein Drag Queens I’m will to let the songs they rerecorded from that band slide for two reasons. One: The original recordings had poor sound quality and demanded a rerecording with better sound quality that lucky Roadrunner Records was willing to go through with. And Two: If you paint a painting and try to sell it at a flea market with no success the next best thing to do is to try and sell it where you know more people will be looking in… art expo!!! Which is pretty much what Wednesday 13 did. Songs didn’t work out too well in Frankenstein Drag Queens so he sold them with the Murderdolls. Plus if you make four good albums with no one knowing of them let alone buying them you deserve to take a fucking short cut and simply have old songs rerecorded!Joey Jordison (who everyone should fucking know by now) unmasks and decides to play guitar in this band. And with the freaky gothic dress style and makeup he looks like a full cross between Eminem, the singer of MY Chemical Romance (whatever the fuck his name is) and a 30-year-old version of the freaky girl (Samara Morgan) from The Ring. And while I’m discussing the dress sense and make up, all the band members dress in gloomy gothic clothes and make up. But let’s not let that distract us from the music, or sucker us into the music for that matter. Yes I’m referring to you girls who are sexually attracted to anorexic males that enjoy dressing like corpses! The genre of this album is heavy horror rock, gothic rock and horror punk. Which is surprisingly pulled off quite well. The album has a great intro where a classical song is cut short only to be replaced by obscene language and simple (but awesome) drum and guitar sounds. The bonus tracks version (which is usually the only version sold in stores these days anyway) has twenty songs where all of the songs are worth listening to. They all have catchy tunes, rhythms, and guitar solos. But mainly the lyrics. The lyrics are fucking awesome and I can relate to almost every song.“Die My Bride” which basically explains my views on how weddings are the same as a fucking funeral.“Motherfucker I Don’t Care” which I envisioned being said to girls who never shut the fuck up about Emo looking faggots they find sexy.“Let’s Fuck”… speaks for itself.“I Love To Say Fuck”… speaks for itself too.But my favourite song on the album (lyrics wise) would have to be “Twists My Sister”. It’s a song glorifying beating the shit out of your good-for-nothing brat sister, something I can relate to 110% and give full kudos to Wednesday 13 for writing.Oh, and the bonus tracks version comes with a cover song of Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” which absolutely CRUSHES the original song and puts it to shame. And the way the solo is played in this cover is absolutely face melting!I can’t actually think of anything about this album I don’t like. Well okay, so maybe there’s a few things I could do without. All songs sound fairly similar and are only easily recognized apart by the clear and easy to understand vocals. My least favourite song on the album “Love At First Fright” for some strange reason seems to be everyone else’s favourite song. The opening song “Slit My Wrist” had good music but pathetic lyrics and meaning if it wasn’t obvious enough from the fucking title. But my biggest complaint is the over hype of the zombie genre. It’s everywhere today, shitloads of zombie movies with the same plot but different people, as well as in video games, books, comics and now songs thanks to the song on this album “Dawn Of The Dead”. Can’t anyone think of any original horror creature rather than just ripping off or singing about zombies? However the rest of the songs on the album are good enough to make me quickly forget and forgive these flaws. So that’s “Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls”. A rebellious, misfit album for those of you who hate rules but yet have a job to earn money to buy it.
