The 1992 full-length debut from Mexico City's BLACKTHORN has been resurrected by Chaos Records.

The Rotten Ways of Human Misery is the first and, to date, only full-length recorded by the Death Metal purists before parting ways in 1994. Chaos Records' re-issue features newly-recorded versions of "Embryonic Mutilation" and "Harrowing Beheading," both taken from the band's early demos. Those songs were recorded by Miguel Angeles at MAT Studios in Mexico and mastered by Chrome Studios' Fredrik Folkare.

The original tracks were remastered earlier this year by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound UK. Three of those songs feature guest guitar solos by DARK ANGEL's Eric Myer, who produced this early 90s classic.

Chaos Records will release The Rotten Ways of Human Misery November 21.

It was in 1990 that BLACKTHORN rose from the depths of Mexico City, intent on creating pure old school death metal. The band's first demo, a self-titled cassette, was a raw, uncompromising attack in the vein of AUTOPSY, DEATH, MORGOTH and POSSESSED. A second demo followed a year later.

While BLACKTHORN was undeniably worshiping their idols, they owned the material and concept music and [concept of] death as a point of escape. Soon live presentation began, with bands like CENOTAPH, SHUB NIGGURATH, RIPPING FLESH, ANARCHUS and more. [The gigs] showcased the band's talents, especially the monstrous voice of Paul Mallory.

The band decided to wear only black clothes [on stage] as a symbol of mourning [and the notion of] death as the mother of their creation. In 1992, with legendary DARK ANGEL guitar player Eric Meyer producing, BLACKTHORN released their debut album, The Rotten Ways of Human Misery. [This came after BLACKTHORN] played with many international bands like OBITUARY, CANNIBAL CORPSE, SAMAEL and DISMEMBER to name a few. Their fast and morbid Death Metal was finally set with a professional production and unleashed to the masses.

BLACKTHORN earned great reviews for their direct and putrid Death Metal and continued touring until their untimely demise in 1994. The Rotten Ways of Human Misery became a highly sought item by metal collectors, leading to talks about a reunion. In a tragic turn of events, Paul Mallory died in 2013.

In tribute to their fallen vocalist, BLACKTHORN returned to the stage with a new lineup.

Chaos Records' release of The Rotten Ways of Human Misery is the definitive re-release of the original old school death metal assault. The cover art used in this edition was one of the alternative designs done by Raúl Pacheco Cabrera, who created the original album cover.

With an improved sound and design, besides new pictures, the new generation of metalheads will be able to experience "The Rotting Ways of Human Misery" in the best (or worst!) form.

As a bonus, the band re-recorded two songs exclusively for this release. BLACKTHORN is thankful for their old and new fans who have been supportive through the years and want to remind all deathheads that the black plague continues and there is still more to come from BLACKTHORN.

Let the human abattoir begin!.
