1. GONE

I can't see my house from here
Is this how it feels to be alone
Thousands of people surrounding me
But now I know you are gone

When I left, I wasn't too sure
What I felt about leaving you there
In the window, the wave of your hand
I wondered how you would fare
Well, now I know…

Is it really that different
Will you miss me for long
Do you know I'm not confident
I will be welcome…when I come home

I can't see my world from here
I guess the fault is my own
The only future I know about
Is long, long gone

When I left, I wasn't too sure
What I felt about leaving forever
In my mind I was glad that I went
But I wondered how you would fare
And now I know…

Is it really that different
Will you miss me for long
Do you know I'm not confident
I should never have gone…I will never come home

2. INNER VOICE

Take me back to earth
And show me your world
I’ve been here before
Times were different when I was born

You have everything
You need nothing more
The thing you need the least
Is to lose it all

You would be safe here forever
But you had her reach for whomever came along
The curse of the unconfident one

All you have in your life should please you
You only worry
See the smile leave those beautiful eyes
And you say that you’re sorry

If you wonder who’s gonna hear you
I will
And if you say you fear the danger
I will know how you feel

Things will happen, change will come
And you’re bringing it on
Clutching too hard, prison and pain
For the other one

I am the core of your being
The one before the dawn
The one they taught you to hate
Now you can’t be alone

All you have in your life should please you
You only worry
On your knees when those beautiful eyes
Don’t believe that you’re sorry

3. COMPANY

Complication-I’m falling down
In contemplation-I watch the town
Another evil-Come teach or listen
All angels falling-It’s my religion

And we know-But don’t care

And the company-is in need of therapy
But the people make a living in the end
It’s all for the end

This is poison-This is crime
Most of all, this lifts our business
off the ground

And you know-But don’t care

And the company-is in need of therapy
But the people make a living in the end
They will all meet the end
As generations start to mend

I’m in my cabin-Luxurious surroundings
I only wish the trees were alive outside

But you know-We didn’t care

And the company-is in need of therapy
But you know-they had to make a living
And the company-is in need of therapy
But the people made a living in the end

This has to be the end
This will take generations to mend

4. CONFIDENCE

Darkness, in its most soothing form
Darkness called forth by a candle
And darkness
that makes the faintest glow visible
Darkness I can handle

In the quiet of the night
I sit and watch the time
While I listen to the air
And music in my mind

Someone sings
in a language without words
Paintings in silent sound
Someone speaks…
was it your voice I heard
You lift me off the ground

Floating through the room
And deep into the soul of the house
Where all the smiles and all the tears
find peace
And come together in our vows

All in all I am alone
But I'm in our home
And that is darkness in its most soothing form

5. IN THE ARMS OF THE NIGHT

To be seen by admiring eyes
And by those who look with envy
Those who look with contempt
At the people under the glory

Always a smile on the screen
Captured by the camera eye
Silent kingdom in the nights
Well described by glittering lies

Do you know what they do
(In the arms of the night)
They live just like me and you
(In the arms of the night)

People say we’re all born free, these days
The children of the king will be prisoners, always

To be a face in the crowd
The impossible dream
Smiling, but possibly
Not as happy as they seem

A tragic accident
In the road, his highness dead
Exclusive pictures show
All the blood is red

Little hand, exploring your way
The papers will tell you how to behave

6. NEGOTIATION

We are on our way
closer and closer to the shore
So don't let the hammer fall down on us
We will be there

A little time is all that we need
And we will make the journey
Form our actions from new ideas

Get information and help
from those who know out there
Form our actions from new ideas

...Their ideas

What about the world they said did exist
and was effaced in a single turn
Did they know what was in store

...What's to come

Everyday life in colourful shades of changing mood,
so trite, and so cosy, would you mind
To form your actions from these ideas

7. GATHERING DAY

(Chapter XI of “The fated line”)
January '85, prepared for just another day
Early morning, full moon high
and dancing northern lights

I was walking in the cold
Parking lot outside my home
Then suddenly something didn't feel right
I was not alone

They gathered (around me),
strangers I knew
Like reading for the first time
something I have read before

I was growing nervous
as I met the eyes of an elder man
How weird it feels to see
an unknown face again

I saw everyone of them
for the very first time alive
I knew right then
where I'd seen them before
Pictures on the wall

They gathered (around me)
strangers I knew
Like being for the first time
somewhere I have been before
They gathered
(it was like) a strange déjà vu
A woman on a photograph

I thought the chill from the biting cold
would be enough
The encounter by the road
made matters worse
I checked my watch
to see if I was getting late
Blood turned to ice
when I noticed the date

They gathered
(around me) strangers I knew
I saw them for the first time
I have seen them all before
They gathered
(they were) strangers like you
A woman on a photograph
Picture from a long lost childhood
You were strangers
But I knew all of you

8. MEMORY BENEATH THE SEA

A long time ago, a messenger came
Sailing into the shore
Of our island

He said, you’re sinking soon
But I’ll lend you a hand
And help you move
From your island

You have to see
This place is gonna be
Only a memory
Beneath the sea

But you can come with me…

So we took all we could carry
And went aboard the ships
Downcast eyes, and troubled minds
And trembling lips

As the distance grew, with sailing away
from our abandoned home
It sank into the sea, like a dread preview
Of what was to come

What had been the world to me
Was going to be
Only a memory
Beneath the sea

Now I sit here and wonder
But her face is hard to read
What would be if we stayed, back then
Would we drown, or would we breathe

These unfamiliar surroundings
Will never feel like home
The ocean breeze is the only thing
I feel that I know

The sun sets, into the sea
Will it shed some light
On a memory

What was the world to me
Will always be
Only a memory
Beneath the sea
