Vinnie Moore (April 14, 1964, New Castle, Delaware, USA) plays melodic instrumental rock and neo-classical metal. He began to play the guitar at the age of 12 and joined his first band 3 years later. Since 2003 , he has played guitar for the British hard rock band UFO. Along with Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, and others, Moore has been called as one of the greatest shred guitar artists of all time.Moore is endorsed by Ernie Ball MusicMan guitars, and supports them by doing clinic tours. He recently received new sponsorship from ENGL amplification.

Vinnie Moore emerged from the shredder boom of the mid to late eighties. As of 2001, he has recorded six studio albums and is signed to the Shrapnel record label. Beginning his career at the age of 12, Moore played clubs and bars until Shrapnel executive Mike Varney discovered him through a magazine article. His connection with Varney led to a Pepsi commercial in 1985, (only Vinnie's hands appeared in the commercial as his guitar playing is heard) which gave him enough recognition to record his first solo album, Mind's Eye. His debut, featuring Tony Macalpine on keyboards, led to several awards from guitar magazines and sold over 100,000 copies.

Vinnie Moore played lead guitar with the metal band Vicious Rumors on their debut album, "Soldiers of the night". The album features Moore's solo-song, "Invader", which was in the style of Van Halen's "Eruption". The shred guitar craze of the late eighties led to more well received releases on Shrapnel, and he began to perform with other bands in the hard rock scene. He joined Alice Cooper's band for a tour and the Hey Stoopid album, and released two instructional videos on playing guitar.

He secured a tour with Rush for his solo material, then visited several continents on a guitar clinic. His dedication to teaching his craft has brought him much praise in musician's circles.Although the nineties saw a decline in the popularity of solo guitar music, Moore survived the downward trend due to his popular guitar clinics and quality guitar playing. Along with guitarists, Al Di Meola and Allan Holdsworth, Vinnie Moore remains with Shrapnel records.

In 2003, Vinnie joined the legendary group UFO (Phil Mogg, vocals; Pete Way, bass; Jason Bonham, drums; Paul Raymond, keyboards). Their first effort together as a band was the SPV Records release You Are Here (in 2004); Vinnie was a major songwriting contributor on this record. The band followed You Are Here with a worldwide tour which spanned from March 2004 to August 2005. A LIVE DVD from this tour was released in Nov 2005. Titled UFO Showtime, this two-DVD set also includes bonus footage of the band.

UFO is currently working on new songs for its next record, and plans are already set for another tour in 2006. Vinnie is also working right now on writing songs for his newest instrumental CD, which is slated for a 2006 release.

Over many years, Vinnie’s 4-track recorder has grown into a home studio, where he’s recorded his last two solo CDs, and parts of the UFO CD. Vinnie’s home studio is the place where he writes new music.

As well as songwriting and playing, Vinnie is dedicated to teaching. He’s conducted guitar clinics around the world, and has released two instructional videos on the HotLicks® label. Vinnie joins his fans at clinics worldwide for Ernie Ball Strings and Music Man Guitars, and for DiMarzio pickups.
