Vision Of Disorder (en)

Here's the interview of mine with the band Vision Of Disorder. We've talked about their new album and plans for 2013.

interview Vision Of Disorder2012 is the 20th year of VOD. How has it been so far? Did (or will) you have an anniversary concert?
We don’t have a 20th anniversary concert planned. That’s a good idea- I’ll talk to the guys about that! Of course it has been great, this band has given us a lot of opportunities and we are looking forward to 20 more years of fun. What’s most amazing about the whole thing is that there are people that have been following us the whole time, since the very beginning. It’s a trip!

What are your plans for 2013?
Right now we are heading to Australia for the Soundwave festival in Feb-March 2013. Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Sick of It All, Tomahawk, Madball, and A Perfect Circle are on the bill along with a hundred other awesome bands. We are really looking forward to that. After that we are looking to play as many shows as we can all over the world.

You supported Slipknot for the last two shows with their original line-up. Did you enjoy it?
Yes, it was great to play with Slipknot and we are grateful they gave us the chance to play for their audience. They put on one hell of a show. It’s hard to make a lasting impression when you have that following you!

After years of hiatus,
interview Vision Of Disorder what made you come back with VOD once again?
Throughout the years we all remained close friends even through the split. We did a couple reunion shows and it felt very good to play together again. We took a crack at writing some songs and just went with the flow.

Your latest album is called ‘’The Cursed Remain Cursed’’. Does the name have some special meaning?
Yes it does……

In 2010 Tom told that the band had managed to write 19 new tracks and your latest album has 11 songs. Are you planning to release those other 8 songs some day?
The other songs we felt were not as strong as the 11 we put out -and many of them were butchered, had their best parts stolen from them, and then Frankensteined into these songs on the album. We will just write some more!

You’re going to play at Soundwave Festival in many cities of Australia. Are you excited? Have you been there before? How is the audience there?
We were in Australia in 1998. We are totally excited to go back there especially for this tour. I remember the audiences being awesome and not feeling that far away from home, even though we were on the other side of the planet!

You are playing there with some
interview Vision Of Disorder very big bands like Metallica, Slayer,
The Offspring, Linkin Park… How does it feel?

Metallica are such a huge influence on Matt and Mike (our guitarists) that it really is a dream come true for them to finally say that they toured with them. We have had the chance to play with Slayer, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Anthrax, Sepultura and so many other bands we grew up listening to. We are super lucky!

Have you got any negative reviews? If you have, does it demotivate you?
Of course there are always negative reviews- I think it used to bother us but now we find them entertaining. Not everyone is gonna like what you are doing.

If we take a look at the history of the band, what was the biggest (most important) milestone for VOD?
I would have to say when we released the “Still” EP- things really started to blow up for us. The crowds got bigger, the shows got better, and Roadrunner records came knocking on our door. That release really started the ball rolling.

Summer Festivals have already started to announce bands for 2013. Have you already got any shows for some of these summer festivals next year?
Nothing locked down yet but that is definitely the plan for next summer- Festivals!!!!
