Beecher (VO)

interview Beecher1) Can you introduce us the band ?
Yes of course! So, we're Beecher we're from Manchester, UK. My name is Edward I'm the singer and we have Dave on bass, Mark on guitar, Dany on guitar, Dany on drums.

2) how can you decribe your music?
We're a crossover band but not in the way that is usual… we like to think that we're an intense rock band, that drove influences from Metal, Hardcore, Punk, Death, Grind, Progressive Rock… you know we try to draw influences from everywhere. I guess the best way to describe us would be an eclectic alternative heavy rock band.

3) Who is the songwriter?
Well we all write our songs together, I'm write the lyrics. Musically like I said, we write all together, our lead guitar is probably the strongest contribute musically but like I said we write together.

4) Why did you choose to go to the USA for the recording of your first album? You have a lot of great studio in England
The fist time we were just thinking about who we d'like to record the record, a few names were found around even at that stage when we were financing the record ourselves, we had the knowledge that we needed to create a good record. That was a reason, and we decided to go back for the new album because and we were comfortable with the way he works, the fact that he would get the best of us…

5) Can you tell me more about your new record “THIS ELEGY, HIS AUTOPSY”
It's easily our strongest work today… it's more detailed than the other one, and more musical than anything we've done before… lyrically I'm 100% happy with the way this album we had a little longer in the studio so, sometimes it's more intense, it's more aggressive than anything we've done before, it's darker and heavier and it's really listenable… as far as I'm concerned it's really varied, eclectic record, I think it can appeal to a lot of people so…

6) Everybody say that your music is like dillinger escape
interview Beecherplan music, what is your opinion?
I‘ve heard many people said that as well! Yes that's right, we're in with that band, we're not personally influenced by DEP, we probably see them more as pears if you see what I mean, you know, an other band just like us. This one is quite influenced by a band called Cynic, and Cynic has definitely a musical influence on us, like I said we've under with them and the music is in a really similar vein, but in the same time I really don't think we sound like the DEP. But that's a comparison that we got and I can understand why.

7) What's your favorite band?
My favourite band ? Hehe difficult question! I like such a lot of different music that to give you my favourite band would be difficult. Let's say Radiohead. But you realise that one people ask me in an interview what's my favourite band, I give each person a different band so… hehe… I have too many different favourite bands to have one, so I just think the one on the top of my head.

8) What is your main influence?
Personally? I'm influenced by a lot of things you know, I'm really big fan of Thrash Metal, Death Metal, I'm a big fans of Punk, …. Lyrically I've been influenced by a lot of different things over the years, the lyrics for our new record probably more influenced by hip hop urban style band completely unique and his lyrics are all especially social comment but done in a really straight forward, really quirky, unusual but really satisfying way and that band has really an influence on me, like Johnny Cash, really pessimist, etc. You know I'm influenced by Metal bands, Hardcore bands

9) What is your best memory with beecher?
I have so many good memories from the 4 years we've had together we were stopped to the customs, for three hours we were searched for drugs, all our equipment was searched, all our personal luggage were searched and we were charged taxes on merchandizes, that was a complete nightmare we arrived to the show,
interview Beecher this was one of the best shows we've ever played, you know 400/500 kids completely uninhibited, completely ecstatic to have bands there playing for them. I find in England and Europe there is some emphasis on people, wanting to look cool, caring about impressing other people and it was so refreshing when we went to Croatia to see people genuine reaction : people just didn't give a shit about what do other people in the room thought of them, they were just reacting to the music, you know, completely on instinct, that was definitely my best memory with Beecher.

10) What is the spirit of metal for you?
Brutal, intense, aggressive music is the spirit of metal musically, and freedom to speak, to say what you want. To me, good metal bands try to spread a message for thinking… open mind and forward thinking attitude, that's the spirit of metal for me! And musically, pure brutality!

11) Actually you only have 2 gigs in england, when will come in France?
We were here in June actually, we played 4 shows in June and we finished the Fury Fest in le Mans… we played to a good crowd and we were received very well, we've enjoyed playing in France, we're planning to do at least one, maybe a main European tour before Christmas so, I imagine that we'll stop in Paris, I'm confident that we will!

12) One question about your Tatoo…
This is taken from Oceanic by Isis, I did it because I travel a lot and Oceanic is being about the see and the mysteries of the sea, you know to travel from England, you have to cross the sea and for English people the sea is a major thing I think: we're isolated by the sea. But I love Isis too. There's a lot of different reasons.

13) Thanks a lot, the last words are yours…….
Thank you very much for the interview, it's really a breath of fresh air in a scene which is at the moment, stagnant and oversaturated with crap and when we come to France, come and check this out you won't regret it!
