Zyklon was one of my first and favourite Death Metal bands. They are one of the only bands out there who know how to integrate atmosphere into Death Metal correctly. 8/10
Screw Alcest! Screw Fen! Screw LantlĂ´s! (not really, I love all of them) but Galaktik CancerSquad wipes them all out clean! The best thing is that there are no vocals to turn you off.
Hey, are you an archaeologist?

Nothing really interesting, but still alright. I do like the opening riff, it's just played way too much. The flow of the song is okay, but I don't like the awkwardly-placed interlude that doesn't come from any kind of intelligent song progression, but is just stuck right in the middle of the song for no reason. I am glad that there is a slower solo here, because I know Wintersun usually can't help themselves but to go Insane on their fretboards and I think their slower solos are way better by far. And all around I like this song because it's slow. If you'd posted one of their other songs I'd probably have given it 6/10. But anyway since I don't see huge differences from this band and most other bands of the genre around this time, I'll give it
7/10.
I recently came across this Funeral doom masterpiece...

I dont know, i was a bit dissapointed with that song because i Wanted it to progress from the slow stylistic Funeral sound to something just a little faster. But it never happened. I dont know much about Funeral doom, but merc and others (Dawn) talk of 1000 Funerals (i think that's the band). What are they like in comparison to Mournful Congregation?
Song; 5/10
Been listening to Ne Obliviscaris' demo after the release of their debut. This is my favourite song off the demo:
"I Wish I had that AR-15 in here, then I could probably get out.....I don't like being locked up, it's not very nice."

1000 Funerals is doom metal. Doom Metal is slow. That's part of the point. Anyway a lot of Heavy Metal consists of slow, heavy tempos, and I would say you're missing out on an awful lot if you block out any music that's too slow. What about the amazing song composition, the mournful and passionate riffs, the Cold, chilling atmosphere and the dark and unrelenting Power of the music?
Oh well, I'm just projecting my opinions now. But yes, Doom Metal is slow and progressive, especially in the case of Funeral doom.

My style of doom is the real melancholic type, like the song Echoes from a hollow soul (My Dying Bride). No doubt the Mournful Congregation song was melancholic, but it didn't Invoke much emotion.
@ Merc absolutely amazing. I love everything about Forget not. The lengthy introduction, the classical elements, the vocals (Both clean and shrieks). It is simply a masterpiece. (The added growls toward The End of the song are also very good).
