Yes I would say that Kalmah, Children of Bodom, Wintersun and a bit of Ensiferum have something different with the other bands of that genre, Finnish Melodic Death?
their sound is more power sometimes, the finnish bands tends to be much more melodic and with keyboards.

I recommend Persefone from Andorra (Symphonic/prog/Melodic Death) and Skyfire from Sweden(Symphonic/Neo-classical/Melodic Death)

Enslaved and Vintersorg are good Viking bands too.

i pretty mcuh have to agree with stephenkse with that list of bands

y oh y does finland and the surrounding countries always have to have some of the biggest bands in metal these days
