I have to say thrash. I listen to a lot of sub-genres (death mostly) but a great thrash band will just blow everything else out of the water.

This is hard! I listen to all these genres [except for nu-metal and most gothic] and have bands I like from all the genres... I'll go for 'Heavy Metal' as a whole :P

Its rather difficult to pick one . As I listen to most kinds of metal depending on my current Mood . But i will vote for Death , as its the one that takes most of my time lately .

all very excellent choices, the only genre I dont like in metal mainly is black and nu, but the rest sounds pretty awesome.

Voted "other" since I was looking for "melodic death" or "symphonic metal". Else I would've gone after either Power or progressive, thing is I can't really listen to one definite genre so much and often need a break from it. So it depends, actually.
