Biografie : Zadok (GER-3)

Zadok grew out of the band Crust, which was founded in 1990. The official founding of "Zadok" was on 21.09.1991 in Cologne, Germany.
The founding members: Daniel Bauer: Vocals Rhythm Guitar, Christian Tölg: Vocals Bass; Joe Thar: Lead Guitar; Marcus Schulz: Drums.
The first demo: "Hymn" was recorded in 1992. Already in 1994 the band started the recordings for “The Sign” in the Cologne CTS Studios. Ralf Hahn mixed the recording, which was published under the name "The Sign " in 1995. The first 500 copies of his CD sold within the first month. The label "O Sole Mio " felt not bound to the agreements with Zadok, and so were no more CDs produced anymore. Although the band complete the production costs himself had worn.
In 1996 the band got the chance to perform concerts in Russia. Marcus left the band and studied music in Maastricht. Karsten Drexler was hired as the new drummer for the Russia Gigs which ZADOK made together with the Band TOMBOYZ from France. The concerts in Russia was a huge experience for the band. Volgograd, Astrakhan and Kamisch were the stations. In Kamisch Zadok played in front of 8000 enthusiastic people.

Back in Germany the musicians began immediately the recording of a new album. But "From Dusk till Dawn" was never finished. From "From Dusk till Dawn" should be the first long-player with over 10 songs. However, after the band had recorded the basics complete, during 20 nights in the TMM Studio the whole studio including the label was closed down by the tax investigation. The owner has been arrested. Shortly afterwards came the separation of Karsten Drexler. Jürgen Reinert, a professional drummer, who had studied in the United States joined the band and stayed with Zadok until the dissolution in 2002.
1998 the band celebrated its 7th anniversary with the most loyal fans. 1999 Daniel Bauer left the band, now the band played as a trio. The work of the trio culminated in probably the best ZADOK publication and one of the best private pressings by a German metal band: PRINCESS OF MARS. Also mixed and produced by Ralf Hahn who played also some Keyboards on the Princess. Despite the brilliant work on this CD, the band was tired and missing Daniel. A few months after the 10th Anniversary of the Band, on 08/05/2002 Zadok has given his farewell to its fans as support act of GUNBARREL that once played himself as a support act for Zadok!
