Wakeful has been formed in the early months of 2007 by it's drummer Ingmar Plantenga and lead guitarist Almar van Kesteren. The line-up was completed in July of 2007, with the arrival of grunter Yge 'Snuk' Leenheer, and bassist Ferdi "Furr" Wielstra.

The band typifies it's own sound as Progressive Death Metal, but only because people wanted a label. Wakeful creates its own special kind of metal, incorporating many styles and influences into its musical identity. Oh yes, a demo! This 3-track audio disc, packaged quite stylishly in a DVD-sized flatcase, was finished October 2007. Recorded and mixed at 'Het Gele Gevaar' by producer Bass Blom in just one day (!), it gives all who are interested a gorgeous little sneak-peak into the early sound and feel of Wakeful metal. The demo was presented at Mukkes in Leeuwarden November 3rd, 2007; a mere 5 months after the completion of the band's line-up.

The band has been performing several times at Mukkes, before moving on to other venues in Bolsward, Drachten (Iduna) and Leeuwarden (Theater Romein), gathering universal acclaim for their brutal live sound.

Currently, the band has retreated to darker crevaces to reflect upon their successes, and of course to prepare new surprises for their eager fans. Expect to hear more of Wakeful very soon!
