Biography : The Apparatus

Out of Trondheim, Norway comes The Apparatus, the six man strong hard-rocking metal band with their debut album “Heathen Agenda” ready for the masses. In lack of a better term the music could be labelled “melodic extreme metal”, adding strong vocal variation, unorthodox riffs, synth passages and highly detailed comp to a band still firmly rooted in thrash / death metal. Starting out in August 1999, The Apparatus was formed by Øystein, Per, Ketil and Kim. The line-up was completed a year after by Sondre and Lars. Of the present line-up, all the founding members are still present, except for the replacement of vocal duties in 2002. During the first two years, the members worked very hard in order to find out what music they wanted to represent. In 2001 The Apparatus records their first demo, “We Crawl to Nothing”, a kind of a black / death metal effort. Quite an important step in order to decide where to actually head. The band produces “Lost: Crossed”, the second demo in 2002, and the sound of The Apparatus as of today is somewhat established. Atmospheric and groovy, yet with intensity and subtle technicality. Enter Vegard on vocals, replacing Lars. 2003 and 2004 saw the band playing live occasionally, supporting acts such as Mayhem, Keep of Kalessin and Vader as well as headlining some smaller events. This diplayed “The Apparatus live” as a force to be reckoned with. Although the previous demos were very good received, it didn't bring the band a contract. So, in late summer 2003 The Apparatus decided to take the matter in their own hands. The entered Godt Selskap Studios in Trondheim to produce the full-length debut album “Heathen Agenda” without the financial support from a label. After several months of work the band finally had a product that made them able to sign with British label Dream Catcher Records in August 2004, 5 years after the birth of The Apparatus Heathen Agenda is set to release May 2005 in Europe and UK
