Biography : Thee Maldoror Kollective

The MALDOROR project was born in 1991 with the monicker Inquisitor by the hands of Lord Daimonus Necroroht (vocals) and Arimon (keyboards) with the aim to synthesize in a particular musical language the vocalist"s involving in Esoteric Magick Experience. The first musical influences were Hellammer, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate and Death SS, while the band"s occult approach was embodied in technical organ adds influenced by the most obscure and esoteric dark wave.
But only in 1994 the line-up established with the coming of Frater Alchemoth Katharian (bass), Giorgio (session guitars) and Marco (drums), and a couple of songs with strong thrash influences were composed. In the end of 1995 Baphomet and Aradia Hokhma replaced Marco and Arimon, and the sound became more occult and ceremonial. The monicker was changed in Funeral Fog, and after a long releasing work the band published in August 1996 the "De Mysteriis Serpentis" demo tape.
Recorded in the Dumbo Studios in Turin (Italy), this demo consists of five tracks of Occult Black Metal and sells over 250 copies. Then Baphomet abandoned the band and Lord Daimonus Necroroht recorded the drums parts on the "Beyond a Bloodstained Moon" demo tape. This tape (reviewed with 4/5 on "Metal Shock" and demo of the month with 8/10 on "Psycho!") is a work with a strong occult approach, lyrically inspired by different magick topics such as the exaltation from Malkuth to Thiphereth, medianic experience and the ecstasy in the Magus state. But the instrumental skilful is better and the songs are a particular union of power, violence and atmosphere. The tape sells over 500 copies, and the band signed a deal with Alkaid Records.
Then the guitarist Hiems Algor Animae and the drummer Drakon (also with the doom/gothic band Maelstrom) joined the band, and the sound became faster, more violent and technical.
With the ultimate and original monicker MALDOROR the band released the "Kerioth Promo "98" in the Acqualuce Studios in Alpignano (Italy). This promo is the advance tape of the "Ars Magika" album.
In May 1998 the long awaited "Ars Magika" debut digipack cd was recorded in the Acqualuce Studios. This release consist of six long tracks of Mysterical Ritual Black Metal characterised by a violent and technical drumming and an intricate guitar riffing surrounded by a very particular and original keyboard work with real esoteric features deeply influenced by names such as Goblin, Jacula/Antonius Rex, Raison D"Etre, Thelema etc.
Lyrically, the album is a concept based on the Initiation Path through the four cross-parts and the corresponding magistic/ceremonial thelemic operations, with precise references to numerological, tarotic, sephirotic and quabalistic symbols.
The band is a vehicle of a deep thelemic inspiration, and confirms her devotion to Magistik Ascent and to Kingdom of the Crowned and Conqueror Son.
Also two other tapes are considered part of the Maldoror discography (the first Funeral Fog promo that consist of a raw recording session of stuff from 1991 to 1994 and the "V.I.T.R.I.O.L. Promo", a rehearsal tape with the unreleased "Imago Dei" track) but both releases are to be considerate as non-official stuff.
After the "Ars Magika" recording, the guitarist L.V.X. Keyeren joined the band, being a skilful metal musician and deeply involved in Thelemic contest, and with this ultimate line-up they recorded the "E.O.N. Promo 1999 e.v.", a 15 minutes CD destined only to labels and mags.
In 1999, Maldoror signed a deal with Northern Darkness Records to release the second official album "In Saturn Mystique", out in the middle of 2000. More informations about it coming soon. In the meantime you can download some mp3 samples.
