Soulsteeler's biography

It all began in December 2001.
After the split of Jeroens former band he found new members to form another. From that moment Soulsteeler was born.

Jeroen Dhondt : Lead and Rhythm guitars

Raf Nijs : Keyboards
Pieter Verachtert : Drums

Because it’s difficult to find good vocalists, Jeroen took care of the singing parts and started to write lyrics to complete the songs. In november 2002 Pieter Verachtert decided to leave the band because he didn’t had time for it anymore due to his schoolwork. A long search for a new and capable drummer started which kept going on until September 2003.
Luc Seeuws, the former drummer of Patriarch joined us.
While Luc practiced the songs we allready had, we composed new ones. In december 2003 we were ready to enter some stages


In February 2004 we decided to record a Demo-CD at the DIGIT Studio in Westmalle. “Cosmic Fire” contains 5 tracks: Cosmic Fire, If you run in the dark, Soulsteeler, Last Recall and Cry in the Darkness.

As it was hard for Jeroen to sing and play the guitar both at the same time, we started to look for a real and good singer which we found in May 2004. Johan De Bruyn, ex-Mandylion, Celestian completed our lineup.With his melodic voice Johan added an extra value to the music.

The music of Soulsteeler can be described as technical and melodic Power Metal but with its own characteristics and atmosphere. We decided to record a second Demo-CD with the new line-up in November 2004. “Victims of Power” became a fact.

After a bunch of gigs we taught it was time to get back to the repetitionhole to make some new songs. In July Ken decided to leave Soulsteeler to concentrate on his performances with Killer and Blackjack. Not soon after Luc also decided to quit Soulsteeler to do something else. The rest of us wanted to go on, and started a search for a drummer and a bass player.

A new drummer was found in the person of Bart Janssens. He used to play with Jeroen before in the band Kalashnikov and wanted to pick up again. Sus Kaethoven, our new bass player joined in on September 2006. He is a Dutch Belgian or a Belgian Dutchman, we don't know it for sure.

So this is our current line-up:

For the moment we’re busy to rehearse our songs with the new members, so we hope to be ready to hit stages and to record a new DemoCD probably in the beginning of 2007.
