    Soliloquy's biography
Soliloquy British band Soliloquy was formed in 1998 by Pete Morten. In 1999 he teamed up with his brother, keyboardist John R Beech, with a view to writing original material. After three years of song-writing the pair recruited old friend Andi Evans on drums, with bassist Pete Waldock completing the line-up later the same year.

The Creative Principle (2003) was Soliloquy's first independent release, and they gigged extensively in support of this two-track home recording. Most notable were two appearances with internationally renowned author Robert Rankin, and a support slot with Power Quest for their pre-Bloodstock warm-up show in 2003.

A year later Soliloquy prepared to enter the prestigious Thin Ice studios (Dragon Force, Power Quest, Oliver Wakeman and Shadow Keep), conscious that a high standard of recording was necessary for the band to progressSoliloquy, they enlisted the production talents of Threshold guitarist Karl Groom. Lateral Thinking was released in January 2005 and has received outstanding reviews from both the mainstream press and web-based publications alike.

In addition to his work with Soliloquy John became involved with writing the music for an independent film. Shortly after the Thin Ice sessions he parted ways with the band to pursue this full-time. The film is currently in post- production and will feature both tracks from Lateral Thinking.

In March 2005 the band welcomed onboard new keyboard player Andy Berry. Also that month the band appeared on ARfm as special guests on Paul Baker's Sunday progressive show, and shortly afterwards were interviewed again on BBC Radio Derby. The latter included a live acoustic performance, and both appearances saw the band promoting Lateral Thinking and their Bloodstock '05 billing.

Keen to improve the dynamics of their live performance the band recruited Mike Gilpin as rhythm guitarist in June 2005.

Soliloquy played Bloodstock 2005 on Saturday September 3rd, second to headliners Cathedral on the Saturday night. It proved to be a successful show for the band and in October of that year the band received offers to play with both Oliver Wakeman for his Album Launch party at the CRS and Power Quest on their UK tour.

In March 2006 the 'Pagan Quest' tour kicked off in the Uk with both Pagans Mind and Power Quest co-headling. Soliloquy were booked as the support act at the famous Underground club in London on Monday 27th. This would to be the last show that the five members would play together, and in early May Pete Morten split from Andy Evans, Pete Waldock, Andy Berry, and Mike Gilpin to pursue Soliloquy alone.

Determined to keep Soliloquy alive and capitalize on it's success thus far, Pete Morten began writing intensely for the next CD. Very keen to have a proper release this time around as opposed to the two track promo format favoured in the past, the next Soliloquy E.P. will have four brand new studio tracks on it and loads of bonus material too!, including a music video for the song Fractured and some live material. Pete Morten is booked in at Thin Ice studio's in London for a week commencing January 2nd 2007 and will be playing all instruments himself apart from the drums. Esoterica is slated for a February/March 2007 release.

Enter Damon Roots and a new chapter in the Soliloquy story. Damon Roots is the new drummer for the band and will be accompanying Pete to Thin Ice for the next recording. New members also include Richard Goddard (Bass Guitars) and Pete's very glad to welcome back Mike Gilpin (Rhythm Guitar), and John R. Beech as a hired gun on Keyboards.

Soliloquy are currently taking a short break from gigging as Pete Morten has committed to standing in as Thresholds second guitarist for their summer world tour dates. However look out for Soliloquy on their second mini tour of 2007 starting October.
