    Sabaton's biography
SabatonThe band Sabaton with it´s current lineup was formed in Falun, Sweden in 1999 and consisted of old friends who all shared the same visions.

After just a few gigs the audience found a big interest in the band and demanded something to put in the stereoSabaton, so Sabaton went to the local "Studio Moon Music" and recorded the 5-track demo "Sabaton".

Shortly after the first demo was recorded everything happened very fast and soon the band played at full-houses in the neighbourtowns. While having the wind in their backs the band signed up for the biggest music contest in nothern europe.

After the first of three region finals of the contest the band began the recording of the promotional demo "Fist For FightSabaton" in Abyss Studios and just before the contest were over band came in contact with the italian label Underground Symphony and a record deal was signed between the two parts.

A few weeks later the band went to Härnösand in northern Sweden and the national finals of "Musik Direkt". And in may 2001 Sabaton stood victorious as one of the best unsigned acts in Sweden.

In the summer/autumn of 2001 the band toured the southern Sweden and attended some festivals including the famous "Motala Metal Festival" which also featured In Flames and former Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze.

In February 2002 the band went to Studio Abyss once again and recorded what was going to be the album "Metalizer". It was also in the same wave that the bands label bought the rights to rerelease the bands self-produced demo "Fist For Fight" with intentions that it would increase the international interest in the band just before "Metalizer" were to be released.

During the three years as a band Sabaton has performed over 50 gigs and shared stage with acts like Hammerfall, Freedom Call, Hellacopters, Satanic Slaughter, Dionysus and The Haunted amongst others. The band has also supported Lost Horizon and Nocturnal Rites on their Swedish tours.

Late March 2003 the band (still consisting of all original members, all between 21 to 23 years old) recorded the tracks on the CD you are now holding in your hands.
