At the beginning of 1998 Falagar, the founder and only member of Rivendell, started to compose own songs. At the end of 1998 the demo „Poems of Mountains and Forests“ was released in a limited edition. This demo received a lot of very good reviews in the press and soon various labels showed their interest. Finally Rivendell signed at Skaldic Art for 3 albums. In the middle of 1999 the recordings for the debut album „The Ancient Glory“ started at the famous „Klangschmiede Studio E“, where also bands such as Empyrium recorded their albums. With the producer Markus Stock (Empyrium), who also played the session drums, an impressive, powerful sound was created, which fulfills the demands of a folk/black metal album of this quality. „The Ancient Glory“ deals with the fictional „Middle-Earth“, in the tradition of J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings). Folkloric melodies and mighty Metal, supported by flutes, choirs and clear vocals, are the basis of a enjoyable, but also demanding album
