Biography : Rest In Disgrace

Rest In Disgrace's history begins back in 2007, in Brazil, when the bass player Márcio Quirino and the guitarist João Pachá decided to gather ideas in a new project, aside from parallel activities they had with other bands (Márcio: Medicine Death, Soturnus, Dissidium; João: Befamal, Overcast, Thyresis).

The goal was to create something new, though inside the well known universe of metal music. With this purpose in mind, the former members conciously chose their main influences, since they should point what kind of background the band had, and what was their musical "bloodline", so to say - which would put them in some spot between the power of traditional Heavy Metal, the aggressiveness of Death Metal and the density of Doom Metal.

After the first compositions, rehearsals and shows featuring guest members took place, increasing the dedication of the group, in as much as they became more rigorous and selective with their music. At this point, the experienced vocalist and friend Rafael Basso (Soturnus, Hate Liberation (Swe), Unlit Face (Swe)) joined the band and contributed on the recordings of Rest In Disgrace's debut studio work, an EP entitled "As Beauty Springs From Mud..." (2010), containing 7 tracks with the essence of the band, both in the sounds and the lyrics, the latter being based on Indian mythology, Buddhism, Existentialism, psychological despair and pessimistic philosophies, as an attempt to enrich traditional themes of metal with their own experiences and (dis)beliefs.

Then the time came when the core of the band (i. e. Márcio and João) decided to move to Europe, aiming at a wide and solid scene to launch their career. That's when Brazilian vocalist Felipe Dias, ex-member of Dissidium and of the German respected band Ancient Existence, plus German drummer André Janssen (Fetocide), came into the line up of Rest In Disgrace, bringing with them a handful of disposition and technical accuracy, which leads the group to presently manage to both things: a broad range promotion of their work and the writing of a full-length album, to confirm the good prospects brought up by the previous EP "As Beauty...", and to show the musical maturity the band has reached.
