 Somewhere between sweet basic instincts and deadly fascinations, PY desperately loves zombie pin-ups, futuristic car-races and comic-books apocalypses.
Caged behind metal fences, blacklights lit and body-painted, surrounded by video projections, trashy-pop-art scenery and the amazingly raw beauty of dancer Olga, they get you tripping into a surreal universe, a neverland where gay culture clashes with Z-movie references.
This visual (but not too abysmal) concept was built through more than 300 european gigs (France, England, Belgium , Switzerland, Spain, Portugal) with bands like Das Ich, Oomph, VNV Nation, Hanin Elias, Senser, A Split Second, making Punish Yourself one of the most important European cyberpunk acts. Strangely, PY also played with bands like Fishbone or The Skatalites... Who wants to stay hidden in a Rivethead-ghetto, anyway ?
With the new album "Sexplosive Locomotive" , PY pushes obsessions even further : a full blast of epileptic electronic dance anthems, heavy beats & ultrasonic guitars, melting samples and distorted sequencing, to make afterpunk reincarnate into an after-techno body. As a companion to this dancefloor mayhem, the "Deep Inside Punish Yourself" comic-book (story by Coralie Trinh Thi, author, movie director & sex-godess) will thrash your optic nerves for real - the very essence of "Sex & drugs & Apocalypse" laid down on paper !
PY acts raw, PY acts fast, PY acts wild and sexy. This is horny-cannibal-undead stuff, digesting the Stooges, digital-hardcore, euro-dance, glam-punk and whatever else, a naughty energy drink to wake you up from your daily life, just in time to dive, head first, into the depths of the new century inferno.
