Biography : Odyssey (SWE-1)

Odyssey was formed in 1999 by influential Swedish musician and producer Dan Swano". Swano" recorded 3 tracks of classic progressive doomy metal together with his long time friends Rick Gustafson - guitar (ex-Memory Garden) and Kenth Philipson - guitar, keyboard (Leukemia, The Project Hate). The mini CD was released by Canadian underground label Utopian Vision in 1999.Throughout the years Dan have been asked over and over, to record more Odyssey tracks. Vic Records bought the mini CD rights in 2005. Then the idea was born to record more tracks in the Odyssey style and combine it with Dan's long time dream to record an album full of his all time favourite cover tracks.Vic Records presents the reissue of already classic, currently long out of print THE ODYSSEY EP, complete with six never before heard and newly recorded cover versions. Original master tapes have been restored and remastered at Unisounds, Orebro by Dan Swano". "They sound almost like they have been re-recorded", says The Odyssey mastermind Dan Swano. "Most of these songs have been up for covering at some earlier point of my career", he recalls. "In the Heat of the Night was destined for the cancelled Route Nine full-length album, while Eyes of the World was demoed for a Nightingale EP that got cancelled as well." At the Gallows End and Lost Horizons were both candidates for the cover of choice for EDGE OF SANITY EP "Until eternity ends" album, but the band decided to go with Invisible Sun. "Lost Horizons was also covered by Memento Mori, who even were at the same label as us back then", adds Dan. Also on this re-issue are Shake the Disease from pop legends Depeche Mode and the Uriah Heep classic Gipsy.
