Biography : Nirvana 2002

In the fall of 1988, two guys named Orvar and Erik formed a Death Metal band: they really never wanted a typical Death Metal name, so the project was called Prophet 2002.

1989: Even thought no studio recording was available yet their rehearsal tapes gained easily a lot of interest. After a few time they changed the name to because Orvar was interested in metaphysical philosophy, parapsychology and stuff like that at the time, and they released a porta-demo called "Truth & Beauty". A little bit later an American band with the same name released an official 7"EP, so they added the previous suffix 2002: If they had known how famous that band would become then, surely they would have taken another name! Under the definitive monicker the previous songs have been reissued as "Excursion in 2002 (No Dimension)" with the addition of "Krishna Extrema" outro.

1990: The line-up was completed with Lars on bass and they entered in the famous Sunlight Studios to record "Mourning": the recording was made using the same Entombed's “Left Hand Path” equipment and assisted by Nicke and Uffe. After a while the guys signed to CBR Records that released their first professional demo tape, "Disembodied Spirits": one song, "The Awakening Of…" was previously released in a 4-way Split 7"EP for Opinionate! Records. The demo was suddenly a cult in the underground!

1991: “Mourning” appeared in the now legendary CBR compilation, "Projections of a Stained Mind": this song was supposed to be released also as a single for CBR and 2 additional tracks were recorded at Sunlight, but nothing came of it, so the planned B-sides were released as the "Promo '91".

1992: The band had offers for an album by Deaf and Necrosis, but then they just went different ways: Eric got really into jazz and started studying music seriously: he is now teaching drums and percussion at the FIH Music Univeristy in Reykjavik, Iceland. Lars just lost interest and is not currently playing in a band. Orvar moved to the US and stayed away for a few years.. He's now working on the Swedish tv. The absolute last breath was when Orvar put some new vocals on Mourning and the Promo'91. They decided to never play live, so there is no concert material, only some straight rehearsal tapes.

2001: Orvar was approached by Relapse Records that wanted to release all the band stuff on CD but nothing happened.

2006: Erik gave all his tapes to Threeman Recordings that wants to make a full CD with all the band's material! The release date is not known though..

2007: The band played their first (and last?) gig at Kafe 44 for the release party of the book Swedish Death Metal by Daniel Ekeroth (Insision, Dellamorte).
