NIGHTWARD were formed in 1997 as a melodic death metal band. The early line up was: Alessando Battioli (guitar), Simone Ceron (bass), Luca Clerici (guitar), Christian Crosta (drums), Tommaso Grimoldi (voice).

In May 1998 they recorded their first demo tape, “Beyond The Golden Gates”: the style of the 3 songs, Swedish death metal, reminds to bands like In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, as well as Death or Carcass.

This demo got very good reviews, reaching also the “Top Demo” of the month on the leading Italian magazine “Grind Zone”.

Though the years the line up changed various times, up to the current one: Alessandro Battioli (guitar), Simone Ceron (bass), Francesco Fabris (drums), Giacomo Fusetti (guitar) and Davide Ricciuti (voice). As time passed, the compositions evolved in a personal way, with more aggressive and experimental solutions.

The new songs start from a death-thrash basis (the Swedish scene), with melodic breaks that shown the most disparate influences, from Opeth to Soilwork, or Carcass, straight to the sound and the feeling of the new modern scene, always supported by a powerful and technical drumming and violent and evil vocal parts.

With this requirements, NIGHTWARD had recorded “Face the fall”, their new 6-tracks cd, at MasterSound Studios (Arese) with the extraordinaire partecipation of CARMELO ORLANDO, singer and mastermind of NOVEMBRE.

Now the band is looking for live dates that will lead them though Italy and Europe.
