Biografie : Manntis

MANNTIS is a five piece band from the Riverside County area of Southern California, USA. With “Sleep in Your Grave”, the explosive quintet have crafted a stunning, brutally heavy and dynamic debut offering, which will breathe fresh air into the metal and hardcore scene. Produced by Cameron Webb (Danzig, Motörhead, Social Distortion), the adventure features blistering tracks of unrelenting metal intensity. Their sound of music can not really be labeled into a certain category of style due to the fact it reaches so many different types. The best way you could describe would be straight metal with alot of hardcore soul. Many bands have influenced the members through the years including Pantera, Hatebreed, Boy Sets Fire, or Meshuggah. The band originated in the fall of 2000. Beginning with only four members the band thought to bring in a second guitar player. After a couple of months of practicing and writing, MANNTIS began playing anywhere and everywhere and overwhelmed anyone that stepped foot in front of the stage. The talent continues to progress and their following expands with each show. The buzz spread quickly throughout the scene, but their biggest break would come in 2004 when they gained worldwide recognition from their participation on the hit MTV show “Battle For Ozzfest”.

The energy on stage is what really attracts peoples' attention while watching MANNTIS live. It's the positive feeling they receive when they hear that explosion of sound and emotion. All of the band's songs are about reality, relationships and being straight forward, once again felling and being positive. Singer Jake Sirokman comments: "Pretty much the album is a positive vibe and deals with everyday life. I sing about being 100% straight up and focus on reality. Most of the songs are about mine and the band's life, stuff that has happend in the past. This album is one that people can relate with in situations they may have had or feelings they may have gotten." Manntis has played over a thousand shows in the US, from a little bar down the road, L.A. venues (The Roxy, Whiskey and Troubador) to big events like MTV's Campus Invasion and Throttle Sports & Music Festival. Day by day and show after show Manntis and their crowds they call family continue to grow and spread. Jake Sirokman (vocals) further conveys his excitement: “One thing is for sure - some people may have heard about us because of the 'Battle for Ozzfest' show, but we're a dedicated band with over five years in the scene, not just some reality show poseurs looking to extend our 15 minutes of fame. Bottom line, we're here to bring the fucking metal." MANNTIS recently embarked on the “Battle For Ozzfest Tour” in the USA with A Dozen Furies and CYN, the show's other two finalists. A European tour is following soon. Prepare yourself for a full on pummeling metal assault!
