„Hagal“ was founded in 1998 by Dirk (guitar), Ole (drums) and A.F. (guitar, vocals). After one-and-a-half years work, our first album-CD „Karg“ was recorded and produced by ourselves. It was published in 2000. We played several gigs in northern Germany with the help of some session bass-guitar players, until we let Janosch join the band and complete our current line up in 2001. The critics on “Karg” were very positive (see Ablaze, Legacy (with interview in # 4/2000), Twilight, et cetera), songs of “Karg” were accommodated on several compilations (Legacy, Twilight, Voenger, et cetera) and played in local & foreign radio stations. Beyond that you can find “Karg” in the lists of numerous distros (Perverted Taste, M.U.D., Blodmorfogh Prod., Blasphemy Rec., et cetera).
In 2002 we started to work on our second album “Sterbender Traum”, which just like “Karg” was recorded by ourselves, while surpassing it by far exceeds relating to the sound. Because of different personal circumstances some delays arose. That's because “Sterbender Traum” was published not until 2004. Because of the high demand for the sold-out debut album “Karg”, Hagal in cooperation with the german label Perverted Taste decided to re-release it in the end of 2005. This second pressing comes along with a better sound and a new artwork. After playing some live-gigs, Hagal concentrates on composing a new album at present.
