The genesis of Grimlet happened in 1999. In October 2004, the band starts recording their debut release "Darkness Shrouds the Hidden" at EchoSystem Studios, in Barcelos. Self-released, distributed by Adrenalina/Recital Records and is played live in full for the first time on the stage of Hard Club, in Porto, in August 2005. Throughout 2006 and 2007, national and international press reactions to their work exceeds by far the band's expectations. At the same time, the "Domination Tour" is on the way and the band plays in many of Portugal's main stages, band battles, festivals and venues, claiming their spot within the national metal scene.

In 2009, the band's next full-length album "Grim Perceptions" is concluded and is then mixed by Daniel Cardoso (UltraSound Studios) and mastered at Fascination Street Studios, by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Pain of Salvation). Hailed as an intense explosion of Thrash/Death Metal, the album is released in 2010 and has an intense follow-up promotion tour during the "On the road again tour". At that time, the band comes to share the stage with big names in the national and international scene, such as Vader, Benediction, Dew Scented, Entombed, Ramp, and many others. Besides that, the band is also featured in five international and national compilations. In the end of 2011, however, the wear and tear of over ten years of total commitment to the band took their toll and the band members decide to take an indefinite time off... until 2015.

Respawned with a new line-up, refocused and more aggressive than ever, Grimlet starts composing and recording their new album "Theia: Aesthetics Of A Lie", both in the band's studio and at Golden Jack Studios, with producer João Dourado, who also has a key role in bringing this new álbum back to life. Throughout 2016, the band showcases both its newest members and its new sound in a number of live concerts, while preparing for the release of "Theia: Aesthetics of a Lie". With the new year, Grimlet sees their years of hard work and dedication recognized and valued by signing with Raising Legends Records, and prepare for the release of the long awaited "Theia", early in the year.
