Biografia : Flagellation (SWE)

Flagellation was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1997 by vocalist/bassist Per Lindström and guitarist Daniel Cannerfelt. After a short period billed as Thornspawn the name was changed to Flagellation when Marcus Jonsson of GENOCRUSH FEROX joined as a drummer. The music now took a more aggressive and technical direction.

The fact that the members were living in different towns made the rehearsal situation a bit troublesome. However in December 1998 Spineless Regression was recorded with Daniel Bergstrand in Dug-Out Studio (MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD). It was released as a 3-track CD in 500 copies and got some very good reviews.

During the summer of 1999 Marcus moved to Stockholm to intensify the work with Flagellation's upcoming material. Toob Brynedal of defunct GENOCRUSH FEROX was also enlisted as a session guitarist for live situations. With regular rehearsals the band developed fast but due to various reasons Flagellation was put on ice only a year later.

In 2004 Per and Daniel met up with keyboardist and longtime friend Fredrik Klingwall, and ideas about starting up Flagellation again began to form. Due to alot of other commitments it wasn't until 2005 it started to take shape.

2006 saw the first Flagellation rehearsal in over a half decade and new material was now in the works. Teddy Möller of LOCH VOSTOK was asked to play guitar and share vocal duties with Per. Completing the line-up was Jacob Anderson, bassplayer of PLAGUE DIVINE. With this setting Flagellation entered Jonas Kjellgrens Black Lounge Studio (SCAR SYMMETRY, CENTINEX) in November 2006 to record the Incinerate Disintegrate EP. It was made available as a free download in february 2007 and released commercially in April.
