biografía : Eventide (AUT)

Now All Contacts Cleave...n earth - our autumn leave". The constant look on the descending world, on the absolute ending, becomes an ideograph in the Eventide philosophy. But while the lyrics may show decay and the end of all existence, the music of Eventide conveys hope and joy of living.

The story of EVENTIDE starts in January 1999 as Mario Herzog(d), Michi Sauermoser(g) and Markus "Mox" Pohlhammer(b), three old friends, met to reunite their former band project "Reality". Afterward they quit for the first time because of juvenile lightheadedness, they immediately made it fixed that the future covenant will focus on serious music. To realize this imaginings they started searching for a second guitar player. By an advertisement they encountered Jürgen Macek in February 2000, who still played in a garage band during that time. With him the musical works got a new point of view as well as Eventide got a fresh face. After some jam sessions and a musical brainstorming they started composing their very first songs "Bygone visions", "Scapegoat" and "Black hole". Concurrently they went in search of the adequate voice, giving the previous materials the special feeling and the essential autonomy. Michael "Kulla" Koller(v) was caught in May 2000, being the vocalist fulfilling the visions and bringing the needed ambitions.
Eventide were born and really got appetite for songwriting. So the previous songs got their final shape and lots of new materials such as "Eventide", "World of variety", "Diving into pleasure" and "While they embrace" became written. A row of fortuities made it possible recording the first demo by support of an EXPLOSIV culture project in January 2001. But before "All Contacts Cleave...appeared in May 2001, it became high time performing live.

At the 24th of March they had their debut in EXPLOSIV, Graz, a great evening and lots of feedbacks. After this manner a row of gigs followed, for example as support of EKTOMORF once more in Graz, Explosiv and at the HELL-ON-EARTH Festival in Wiener Neustadt with bands such as DARK TRANQUILLITY, EVEREVE and DARKANE. In spite of the live-success drummer Mario left Eventide because of private reasons in summer 2002 and thereupon became replaced by Christoph "Stoffl" Sommer(d, ex-SICK MARIACHI). In autumn Mox also had to leave Eventide because of his bad health condition. Florian "Jimmy" Zimmerbauer shortly after that became bass player of Eventide. By the way of the fresh members the songs got a new silhouette (straighter, more rock) as well as the band got another evolving push.

During this time lots of songs like "See you in Hell", "Rebuilt the wick", "Taste the blade" and the very first Eventide-ballad "Just need to say" became created. In June 2003 Eventide went on with their live performances, also on the METALFEST 03 in Vienna, ARENA with IN FLAMES, AMON AMARTH, EDGUY, WITHIN TEMPTATION, BLIND GUARDIAN and many more.

In December 2003 the recordings of "Down for Regrief" started, in cooperation with Peter Droneberger at W.I.C.C.A. Prod. Studio; finished in March 2004. In June 2004 Eventide supported ANATHEMA in Graz, ORPHEUM ere they played at the KALTENBACH Openair with bands such as IMPALED NAZARENE, TANKARD and PUNGENT STENCH.
The EP and the gigs contiguously brought positive critics raising hopes for more success. But euphoria fast stopped as Jürgen broke with Eventide because of a long term US trip. The planned promotion offense became shifted without clearly defined boundaries and Eventide tried to find the right supplement for the guitar by ads in every direction.

Out of a multitude of interested guys, Eventide found the missing power peace in Igor Šimonka in June 2005. For now the band is working on new songs and prepare for upcoming shows. High voltage feeling; C U in Hell!
