Biografia : Eternal Oath

Eternal Oath was formed in 1991.The first line-up consisted of drummer Ted Jonsson, vocalist Joni Mäensivu, guitarist Petri Tarvainen and bass-player Ted Lundström. Daniel Dziuba soon became the bands´ 2:nd guitarist. In December of 1992 the band recorded a 3-song demo at studio Lagret. A few months later Ted Lundström left the band to join Amon amarth and Martin Wiklander took his place. Due to the line-up change, the demo was never released. Almost a year later, in October of 1993, the band entered studio Lagret again and recorded the 5-song demo "Art Of Darkness". The response was good and they started to get a name in the underground scene.

By this time, Eternal Oath had begun to depart from the traditional death-metal genre and had started creating their own path. Daniel Dziuba was replaced by Peter Nagy (of Hypocrite, Mörk gryning and Wyvern) in 1993. In February of 1994 the band entered studio Montezuma and recorded a 3-song promotion tape and started sending it to record companies across Sweden. Two months later they received a reply from Rat pack records, who offered to release an mcd with their material. In March of 1995, Eternal oath once again went into studio Lagret, and in April the mcd "So Silent" was recorded. A year later, Rat pack records still hadn´t managed to release the mcd due to financial problems. Tired of waiting, Eternal Oath broke their contract with the company and released the mcd on their own. "So Silent" saw daylight in June of 1996.

At this point Martin Wiklander had lost all his interest in the band and decided to quit. In March of 1997, after a few gigs as a session member, Peter Wendin replaced him permanently. In March of 1998 it was time to enter the studio again. The fullenght album "Through the eyes of hatred" was recorded in studio Sunlight for the Singapore label Pulverised Records. The album received great reviews from fans, zines, labels etc.

A new full-length album has recently been recorded at Studio Fredman, Gothenburg. The album is titeled "Righteous" and contains 10 tracks including a cover song of the Paradise Lost song "Eternal". The album was mixed and engineered by Fredrik Nordström, who has recorded such acts as In Flames, Arch eneny, At the gates and Dark tranquillity to mention but a few. Mastered by Peter In de Betou at Cutting room, Stockholm. The album got released in June 2002. Chosen zines, fans and friends that have listened to it, unanimously claim that the album is the bands´ strongest and best produced work to date.

Eternal Oath has a reputation for being a great live band. Their live performances always receive fantastic reviews. The band has played with bands such as At the Gates, Unanimated, Necrophobic, A Canorous Quintet, Dissection, Impious and Ablaze my Sorrow to name a few. The guys have also brought their crushing live show overseas on a few occasions, performing in countries such as Estonia and Finland.
