Биография : Cyclone Tracy

Taking their name from the natural disaster that devestated the Australian city of Darwin on Christmas in 1974 CYCLONE TRACY with two albums and a very strong cult hard rock and metal following proved to be one of Australia's most hard rocking outfits though out the 90's.

With many venues around Australia struggling to find patrons to click through their turnstyles and draw imagination of live music followers CYCLONE TRACY establised themselves as a major crowd drawing power holding many venue attendance records and numerous times outdoing the turn out of various overseas acts at the same venues.

The inclusion of live favorite "Don't Tell Me What To Do!" on Sydney's now rare Cobra Club complilation album - which featured premier Australian hard rock bands that had played the Sydney night club had the CYCLONE boys rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Screaming Jets, The Poor, Mantissa and Wrecking Crew.( Don't Tell Me What To Do was also named the Clubs most requested song from the album)

In home town Melbourne CYCLONE TRACY played landmark club/venue The Cathouse at the Palace Entertainment Complex a record 9 times averaging over thousand hard rockers at each performance.

Comaprisons have been many for the band. A mix of in your face Skid Row blended with the likes of Pantera, Soundgarden, AC/DC, White Zombie and Love/Hate all in the melting pot of sounds.

Other highlights for the band included supporting Steve Vai in Melbourne and Sydney, the Eric Singer Project and launching the Kiss album Psycho Circus in full Kiss war paint in Melbourne and Sydney. Live shows being a staple part of the bands business and packed houses being part of the deal.

With two long play albums to their name - One Eyed (1996) - & Schlock!!! (1998) - the band stretched themselves musically through the difficult 90s era of music where trends and the evolution of hard music took its toll on many bands. One Eyed was released in Japan and the US on the Saraya label. The American version of One Eyed featuring Kiss cover War Machine (originally recorded for Australian Kiss Tribute album) instead of the Neil Young ballad Old Man. War Machine would feature on the Schlock!!! album for the Australian fans. Bass player Scottie Ramone would soon leave the band to be replaced by Chris Hughes who played on the Schlock!! album.

With grungier Korn styled musical differences in the wind guitarist Stevie Janevski would also eventually quit the band to concentrate on more traditional sounds with his new outfit Kymera who after a few name changes would become power metal band BLACK MAJESTY - and - also 40 Alexander who would become melodic nu breeders SQUARE ONE.

CYCLONE TRACY eventually disbanded after several guitar player changes but the legacy of the band's two album and live performances still lives strong in the hearts of many old school fans.

Hope this Myspace profile can rekindle some memories for those that saw and heard the band - and maybe introduce them to a few new people at the same time.
