Biography : Closed Casket (AUS)

Since the release of the bands three song demo in 2006, Closed Casket have developed not only musically, but also with a growing national profile and impressive international supports in the bands home state of South Australia. In early 2008, following the bands signing to Truth Inc Records ( home to bands such as Truth Corroded, Double Dragon, The Omen and Separatist ), Closed Casket released the bands debut EP, 'Thy Blood, Thy Word'. The EP received critical acclaim from online and print media and attracted the attention of Soundworks Entertainment who selected the band to perform on the Summer Slaughter Tour in Adelaide. Closed Casket have taken the bands new wave thrash roots and grown, incorporating a far more intense and unrelenting barrage of complex riffing and blasting drumming that has been inspired by bands such as Origin and Necrophagist. As such the band has developed a sound that will appeal to those seeking the extreme - be it black, deathcore or sheer modern death metal. Backed by the throat shredding vocals provided by new comer Dan Torode (joining the band just prior to the recording of the bands debut EP) and new bassist Jacob Stavropolous (replacing original bassist Sam Ahrens early in 2009), original members Taigan Harris (guitar), Chris Walden(guitar) and Scott Belmont ( drums ) are a brutal live experience of relentless intensity that has seen the band share the stage with high profile death metal acts such as Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagist, The Bezerker, Krisiun, Aborted, Psycroptic, Dying Fetus and The Faceless. The band now aim to prepare to take its sound to new extremes, concentrating on writing the bands full length album. Inspired by the extremity of bands emerging from both the new wave of death metal from the U.S and Europe and the growth of the deathcore movement in Australia, Closed Casket seek to obliterate and conquer with an album of ever more complex riffing and speed.
