Biographie : Cleaver (ITA)

Cleaver come from Piuro, a small town in the Italian Alps, they formed back in 2000 by Cordelio (drums, vocals), and Exus (guitars, vocals) who previously played in a band called Angeli d'Opera, utopic band which was more concerned with art work and photography than in music production…

When the decision to have a real band was taken, Bonnie (bass, vocals) was enlisted and, after a summer spent on preparing the rehearsal room and buying the necessary equipment, the band officially began to play together, on September, under the name of Saluster (that means “lighting” in the local dialect).

The beginning was a period of great enthusiasm and poor technical ability (no one borns teacher) but, after hundreds of afternoons in studio, the sound started to be acceptable and seemed ready for the first live concert, that arrived on may 2001.

At those times the band was influenced by punk and grunge sounds even if the first steps in the “screaming” world was taken with songs as “Death on the table” and “Cazzo man”, a sarcastic Village people’s cover who had a great success between Saluster’s fans…

After a summer break, due to Exus absence for work, the band renewed its sound giving life to new songs, increasing power, speed, and changing voice interpretations…

Exus developed a growling guttural voice while Cordelio improved his screaming performances…

In that period the band’s name changed in Cleaver and the new sound was shown in several live exhibitions, supporting good local bands such as Total eclipse, Captura and Noisame…

In 2003 the band won a competition between 15 local bands. The prize was the possibility to record a mini-cd in a local studio. The first Demo was called “Deep conceits deep in the tarn” and saw the light in august 2003 but unfortunately, the quality of this work was awful and the four tracks recorded were never released…

Cleaver sonorities was evolving towards a black/death metal sometimes relieved by melodious and lyrical parts and sometimes brutalized with powerful grind-core explosions…

This is the current band’s sound that’s evolving more and more and will never stop to do so…

Years 2004 and 2005 was years spent most of all in rehearsal room, to improve technical skills and to create new music.

Now, in 2006, Cleaver are having both a new live activity both a new work in studio, recording the second demo that will be soon released.
