    Chton's biography
ChtonChton is Terje on vocals, Øyvind on guitar, Torstein on guitar, Kenneth on bass
and Vidar on drums. Based in Trondheim, Norway, Chton play dark and brutal Death Metal.

Øyvind and Chris, our ex-bassplayer, (then joined by Tom on Drums) had a band going,
writing more Black Metal-inspired material, but they needed a 2nd guitarist. Christer
approached Torstein who had just lost his place in the Thrash Metal act 'Frost' due to
relocation of the band to Oslo. After a while Tom lost more and more interest and
dedication, and Vidar (a fellow bandmate of Torstein in 'Frost', who also refused
to relocate) was asked to join in on drums, and thenChton, just before the dawn of the
new millenium, the fundament for Chton was laid - or rather 'Nil Admirari', as the
band was called in the very beginning. But the songs lacked vocals. This was like a
curse for Chton, auditioning 7 or so vocalists, with varying dedication or talent.
When there was a glimpse of hope for a steady line-up, the vocalists lost their
motivation and left... Song after song was writtenChton, but no recordings or gigs
could be planned without any vocals on the songs. Øyvind had a brief role as guitarist
in the more folk-inspired band 'Lumsk', but chose to devote all his time to Chton.
Four instrumental songs was then recorded as a semipro rehearsaltape in the autumn
of 2001, with plans to finish the songs with vocals when they found a worthy vocalist.
And they found Erik. Shortly after he joined, Chton was asked to participate on a
'Black Sabbath Tribute Night' at Rosendal, Trondheim. We played the songs
'Who are you?' and 'Hole in the sky', and not long after that - our stage debut,
we lost Erik to a Grind/Hardcore-band. Torstein was also approached by long-time
comrades in 'Manes' (Code666, Italy) to join them on bass, where he's now a
full-time member (without that meaning any less devotion to Chton).
Finally, in the spring of 2002, Terje (from the band 'Eternal Silence' - Baphomet Records, US)
was found. His dedication to the band, and to Metal in general,
was astounding - a great guy with a great talent - and at the 26th of October
2002 Chton entered Skansen Studios to record the two songs 'Book of Black Earth'
and 'Crawling Chaos' for their debut self-titled promo. Chton had to find a replacement
for bassplayer and founding member Chris, who chose to dedicate full-time
to his studies. We quickly found Kenneth (also in 'Exalted'), a long-time friend of the
band. His talent has proved resourceful for Chton, as we now stand stronger than ever.
We have continued to promote our promo all along, and has gotten some great reviews in
underground publications all over the world. We re-released the two tracks as part of
the split-cassette "Two tales of Terror" with Supreme Lord (Pol) via Time before Time Records
in 333 ex. Finally we got approached by the UK label Retribute Records where we signed
a deal for the recording and release of our debut album. The recording will take place
    in February 2004.

Chton has done gigs with the likes of Zyklon, Behemoth, Bloodthorn, Manifest, The Apparatus, Vesen etc,
