"It was in the year of 1989 this Swedish metal-quartet commenced their mutual participation for the foundation of a group. The demo "Black sermons" was recorded later on (November 1990) by the inevitable Tomas Skogsberg in the notorious SUNLIGHT STUDIO. Completed in two days (three songs), it was merely a preview of the musical solutions that lied ahead. Shortly after the making of "Black sermons", the rhythm-section was dismissed. The drummer was immediately replaced by Markus Nordberg. Jesper Strömblad took part of the band four months later, pounding his bas-guitar. These two work as a perfect compliment to the (lead) guitarists Anders Iwers and Oscar Dronjak, the latter also responsible for raging raw vocals. Last yearn a name-alteration was necessary, due to another band having a similar name. The monstrous DESECRATOR became the fantasized CEREMONIAL OATH.

The band now consits of four separate members, each with the ability to create and then preserve the chosen part of instrumental development. Together, those four have taken on their own musical direction, wich may be described as : advanced, yet heavy, dark, still fast, brutal and yet intense. If categorisation must be done, one could compate them to the old classic Death Metal bands, playing in the vein of : POSSESSED, DEATH, GROTESQUE, MORBID ANGEL, early SEPULTURA and INFERNAL MAJESTY. Some SLAYER-tendencies can also be traced in the style of paying, such as : fast beating drums and quick breaks along with speed-riffing and high-pitched solos. Dedicated, true Heavy Metal bands like JUDAS PRIEST, MERCYFUL FATE and IRON MAIDEN states an important part as well in the concept of songwriting. Lyrically, the subjects dealt with are : mysticism, occultism, christianity, the darkest side of life etc.

Now (april 1992), the members of CEREMONIAL OATH have released an EP on the rising French label CORPSEGRINDER RECORDS. This EP features two powerful tracks and is available for $5,00 (Europe) or $6,00 (overseas). See address below.

As a result of their negociations with INTELLECTUAL CONVULSION (France), a premiere album will be recorded in August/September and released in October 1992. Containing both newer songs and old ones, it covers the whole career of CEREMONIAl OATH until now. Watch out for their debut album in the autumn/winter the present year of 1992 !"


NB : the band finally released its 1st album titled "The book of truth" in 1993 on MODERN PRIMITIVE RECORDS.
