Biography : Broken Edge

Coming from Besançon (France), BROKEN EDGE never denies its musical style to follow trends. BROKEN EDGE is a pure metal act, blending as well powerful music, aggressivity & a natural sense of melody. Influences come from bands like Pantera or Machine Head, but BROKEN EDGE overcomes them to build its own music.

In 1994, BROKEN EDGE released its first mCD : "The New Century". The band showed its musical basis. Their furious thrash metal is the sign of a mature band, with a more than the average technical level. One year later, the band is back with "Hate", a new mCD. The band"s style is more mature, personal & precise. BROKEN EDGE became a leader of the new french scene.

So, in 1996, the band issued its first full length album, tittled "Cold Lies", with a new second guitar player, the french guitar-hero Chris Savourey (who released several albums on Brennus Music). This album has been distributed in all France through Night & Day & in several foreign countries. The massive following of the band acclaimed this new album. BROKEN EDGE maked a step forward to professionalism . The band also strenghtened its live appearance. Mass medias gave good recognition to this new hope for the French metal scene. Then, Chris Savourey quitted to give a new start to his solo career. Despite this line-up change, BROKEN EDGE has been even more active in the scene with several shows & some showcases in FNAC & the band also appeared in several samplers. Remember the famous "Metal 13" which features some of the most important french acts such as Artsonic, Agressor, Mercyless, Watcha, Massacra, Out, …& recently "Tous maudits" with No Return, Oversoul, Gothic, Darken, ….

By that time, BROKEN EDGE worked a lot on new songs & recorded their new album "Nofamenonamenoshame", a 6 track album, in the famous LB studios with Stéphane Buriez (Loudblast). Y2K was the year of renewal for BROKEN EDGE with this 6 tracks metallic attack that contains an interactive part with bio, photos & 2 video clips. The press was really unanimous about the release of "Nofamenonamenoshame":

"this album abounds in ideas, throwing on the ground all used & abused ideas" - Hard rock mag

"Broken Edge raises himself at the same level than bands like Pantera, Machine Head and Sepultura " Noizy mag.

BROKEN EDGE came back on the front of the scene from the most beautiful of the manners.

So, what"s to say today about "Obey and Conform!" (Ref TR8531) except that it consolidates BROKEN EDGE in its standard"s position of the French premiere power thrash band. Offering a rare instrumental precision, this album, still recorded in the LB LAB, under the leadership of François Jamin and Stéphane Buriez (Loudblast, Boost, No. Flag, Hertz and Silence), delivers one by one real firebrands. Musically among Pantera, Messhuggah, Rammstein and Machine Head, this album reaches summits of intensity and virtuosity. Never power metal have seemed so tempting, so audacious, so hard-hitting. Between infernal guitars parts with outstanding solis & humming bass, precise & tribal drums parts breathes wild rhythms, enriched by an agressive vocal contribution.
