Black Winter was formed in the endings of Summer of 2000 by Astrous (Vocals), Gasgorth (Guitar), Demonith (Drums), Atheist (Guitar) and Zephyrus (Guitar). Wanting a raw, deadly and septic sounding for that time they used three guitars and not bass. So in September 2001 they release their first demo "The Spells Of Black Winter" which was limited to 100 copies in CD format and are sold out by now.

In the endings of April of 2002 the get back into studio to record their second in a row demo " A Dark Echo From The Demoniacal Hell of Lucifer". This time they use bass which was performed by session musician Stormer. That release was out in 1000 copies that after a short period of two years became sold out too. In the middle of 2002 the empty bassist's position is taken by Victor Imperator and at the same time Zephyrus leaves Black Winter and forms a Heavy Metal band, Destiny Dawn.

So Black Winter started giving live shows in many places of Greece having as result to release in March of 2003 after their support act for Septic Flesh the live tape demo "Still Alive ... but Soon Dead" which was released by Peruvian Magistellus Infernal Productions limited to 150 copies. It contained 7 tracks from which the two were Black Winter songs and the rest were cover songs to Rotting Christ, Burzum, Darkthrone, Summoning and Mortuary Drape. Something that happened in purpose wanting to make a tribute to the bands that have influenced them. In that particular release was use for the first time their final logo designed by Christophe Szpajdel (See also Emperor, Old Man's Child and others...)

Continuing their live acts with bands like Nightfall, Inveracity and others in September they record their fourth release "Dismal Fields of Nihilism" .In that third studio demo release they had some guests like Bob Katsionis and Iapetos 666 (Unholy Archangel). Also the song "Hellenic War" appeared in the compilation Greece Attack, while in the same time their second demo "A Dark Echo From The Demoniacal Hell of Lucifer" is released in tape format to the limited number of 333 copies from the Brazilian label Nigra Mortis Productions.

After that due to personal disagreements with the band Atheist leaves and the place is taken as a session member by Agfark (Dunkel) giving their last show in Summer 2004 in Volos with Crossover and others.

From that live and on the band decided to stop until they redefine the philosophy, the will and their future. That took one year to come true and with the new guitarist Noch they make one live show with Order Of The Ebon Hand and one other playing as headliners at Patra. After that, finally, the “Dismal Fields of Nihilism” EP is releasing as split Cd with Moontower (Poland) from the Swiss label Black Tower Productions.
