Biografia : Agnosis (USA)

Agnosis is not a band that lends itself to comparison. Formed in the fall of 2002 in New York City around Robin Koytcheff's churning grunge-metal guitars and Brent Cramer's (singer/guitarist of Texas country-punks Cramer) punk-infused madman drumming, the lineup was completed by the addition of bassist Andrew Jude Riotto (who has played with Black Moon Rising and has released solo music), who quickly began sharing songwriting duties with Koytcheff, and singer Austin Lunn of Unto Others, and formerly of the short-lived but infamous Hollow Point. In May of 2004, drummer Maximilian Senchak replaced Cramer on drums. In September 2004, the group split with vocalist Austin Lunn, who has been replaced by Aerik Von (Black Moon Rising, Rampage). With major influences ranging from grunge icons Alice in Chains to the fathers of heavy metal Black Sabbath to the newer metal bands of New Orleans (Superjoint Ritual, Soilent Green), Agnosis creates a sound that is both raw and sophisticated. Featuring a terrific sonic density considering the sparse instrumentation, Agnosis's music drips with old school attitude and uses complex harmonic and melodic structures and a knack for meter shifts to create a music that will tear your face off and engage your brain at the same time. Asked to describe his band's sound, Riotto declares simply that it is “just good rock music,” but it is clear that there is an extra bit of thought given to every song to assure that it is much more than that. Since their first show in September 2003, Agnosis has headlined shows at Don Hill"s, L"Amour, The Continental, and many other venues throughout the New York region. Agnosis was honored to open for The Misfits on Halloween at L"Amour, 10/31/03. Early in 2004, Agnosis took a short break from playing shows to concentrate on recording their new EP, Welcome to the Monkey House, now available
