This might go up on the list of the weirdest albums ever made (right above Kraken's "Aquanaut" and right beneath Lustmord's "Heresy").
Its this new genre of music thats emerging called "Neo-Folk" and I guess I'm starting to buy into it.
Some neo-folk is really bad and simple, but this is just some fucked up stuff.
For example, the song "Heart's Dementia (Phase One)".
This song can potentially make me not sleep at night. A combination of industrial, yet tribal sounding drums, haunting choirs, random spurts of brass instruments and depraved (and blackened) screaming makes for a horrifying track.
Such beauty is hard to capture, yet the mastermind name "Pimentola" has captured it and magnified the effect… to the point of no return !
The second phase of the song is quite different, yet still terrifying. It uses an almost trip-hop beat, and occasionally what I think to be a disk scratch.
Such work can be compared to Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), and how he uses a catchy as hell beat to convey images of horror and monstrosity.
I love this album very much, and I'm so god damn glad to have it.
