UK doom masters My Dying Bride are back with the release of For Lies I Sire. This album is not far from their last release, 2006's A Line of Deathless Kings. I will say that I overall enjoyed this release more. Any fan of funeral doom will be right at home here, however I don't think this will change anyone's mind who is not into it. It is slow, heavy, melodic and dark. Lyrics are typical funeral doom fare, dark, tortured and depressing. The muscianship in solid, I was pleasantly suprised by the drums, which often takes a back seat on slower albums, but Dan Mullins does a great job of keeping things interesting. The guitars sound crushing. The few solos are slow and well written. The vocals are excellent. Very dark are powerfull, I like that they mix in some death and black vocals hear and there as well.
Once again, for fans of the genra, this is a must. But this is not going to change anybodies mind about the genra.
I recommend this for fans of Novembers Doom, Daylight Dies, Draconian and Funeral Doom in general.
